A Little Help Please

MasterXtremis
I would like a little help in making a character build that I would enjoy playing. I would prefer a build which will allow me to solo in game more than most. I would like to be mainly PvE to begin with and later on maybe changing that to PvE & PvP. I like being in the thick of battle without being the tank in a group. I like fire magics in other games as well. I like using 1 hand weapons. I don't really know much about the game yet so please respond like I am a noob..... cause I am!

Thanks

P.S. I am thinking about a Templar Mage using the Dark Elf race.

P.P.S. I also have the Imperial race as well, in case someone has a build like i am thinking but theirs is imperial.....

Thanks Again!

A couple of ideas based on characters I play:

    1. I have a non-vet (level 40+) Dark Elf Sorcerer that runs Innate Axiom (x5) and Alteration Mastery (x5). Destruction Staff on the front bar. I run Restoration Staff on the back bar ... but you could certainly use 1H + Shield on the back bar and heal via Twilight Matriarch, Entropy, or some other skill.

    2. I also have a High Elf Dragonknight that just turned vet. As a non-vet, this character ran Elf Bane (x5) for the extra fire damage on DK skills and Destruction Staff. Since turning vet, however, she runs Sun (x5). 1H + Shield synergizes with Dragonknight quite well.

Valkyn Skoria, Grothdarr, and Infernal Guardian are decent monster sets that use fire damage.

I've enjoyed being a Stamina DragonKnight for a long time. I use Duel Wield with two daggers as my main weapons and a bow as my backup weapon. DragonKnights offer various flame type skills if that's what you want. I used to use a lot of flame stuff but generally use poison these days. My character is sorta "tanky" but mostly a damage build. Since I use two daggers I'm usually face to face with my enemies but the bow is good if I'm in a public dungeon.

My armor is mostly Hunding's Rage and Spriggon but there are folks with better armor than I have. Since I usually play solo I'm not able to get the better armor because that requires joining others in 4 man dungeons or 12 man trials. So I'm just satisfied with what I have.

Okay, so lets say I am going to try out a Stamina DK build. What would be the best race to use for this build? (yes I have Imperial too)

I assume I would put all my points into stamina?

Is Stamina DK also a good pvp build for later on?

I would say that magicka DK is a lot better pick for both pve and pvp this patch.

Stamina Dk was the bottom tier last patch for PvP, and while it got a few buffs in summerset it still looks like the bottom tier of all the stamina classes. You can reduce that weakness by player skill and good game knowledge, but overall you will be much better playing a stamden for PvP.

As for PvE, for casual play you can't go wrong with stamina Dk's very easy heavy attack rotations. For high tier play they're no longer the top dps class and stamina in general has gotten some heavy nerfs as damage dealers.

If you're insisting on stamina Dk, I advice being a redguard for damage dealing, and argonian for tanking. All other stamina races work, but these two are best for their roles as they give you superior sustain over other options , while not losing out too much on important stats.

Honestly, if you’re a noob, like fire and want to be in the thick of action and still be survivable I’d go with dark elf magicka dragon knight, as dark elf gives you bonus to fire damage and has good passive for mag and stam, which means you’re not gimping yourself if you like to switch between the two, which is probably gonna happen as you’re just starting out.

Run 2h weapon on the front and when you unlock forward momentum you have a pretty decent self heal, before that you can use a Resto staff as your second weapon (level 15 you unlock the ability to use a second Weap and switch between the two you’re using on the fly)

Ive got an imperial stam Knight, and she’s good, but I’ve found myself levelling a dark elf magicka knight lately cause it’s pretty damn fun

Don’t worry about sets yet, not really necessary to have Best In Slot unless you’re getting into the harder aspects of the game, with ‘overworld’ you can do pretty much whatever you want

    Ciao for now :)
