ALT MINING

I have been playing ESO since it was in beta while on PC and never have I seen the massive trouble that I see today with the ALT Mining going on every place I go. I have seen the alt mining for months but paid no mind to it...when questing, if I simply need a wolf, I have to go down the "road" a bit because there is about 40 or more ALTs killing wolves, so I best forget that idea. I get higher level and I want to go on a different quest that takes me to go kill ghosts or whatever is around a corner, well I may as well forget that too because the ALTs are doing that for me.

I changed my thinking and decided I would stop questing and just go do some dolmens to level up as I had done them for several of my chars and had a ton of fun...well, I went to one of the most popular one in the Alik'r Desert. Anyhow I decided it was a great Idea to get leveled up and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw about 10 or so alts following someone in perfect sync, it was like you have got to be [snip] me right now, there is enough people there with everyone trying to kill and we have a hard enough time with those of us that are really behind a controller using our fingers trying kill the mobs then you have some jack ass that brings in his or her MINING ALTS that don't lifts a god damn finger and don't hold a damn controller to do all the dirty work and kill everything for that person and we barely get a damn thing anymore, sometimes nothing as them ALTs get the kills so those noobs that are coming into the game that those of us guild leader whom like to show the ropes to can't even get a hit in because them alts kill so damn fast. Please you got to do something about this madness. I don't know if this is something that is acceptable or not but this type of alt farming should be ban.

Don't get me wrong about the alt farming where you are personally doing the work on your own alts with your own 2 hands with your own controller, I have no issues with that. I see no issues with someone having as many alts that they want and getting all them as high as they can in everything, the more power to them. I do it too.

(For those that are new to this game and do not know, these are the "Dark Anchors" also knows as Dolmens. The teleport location next to these location get you there for free, so when you complete each dolmen you get your chest and rush to there teleport generally in a clockwise manner to the next location - for a rinse and repeat - kill the mob - get loot from chest - run to teleporter to the next dolmen.

not in any particular order but these are the teleporter Wayshrines and the dolmen/Dark Anchors that go with each one

* Aswala Stables Wayshrine - Hollow Waste Dolmen (When you land, turn to your right shoulder, going around the teleporter, straight in front of you)

* Shrikes' Aerie Wayshrine - Tigonus Dolmen (When you land, turn to your left shoulder, run straight, when the sand goes up hill to the left go up and to right asap then go through the 2 trees and down the hill to the dolmen, your there.

* Goat's Head Oasis Wayshrine - Myrkwasa Dolmen (When you land, to around to your back, run straight, you can't miss it - it is just up the little hill in the far end.)

If this is not the correct location for the complaint - please put it in the correct area

I will not be coming back here to be answering any comments or questions - I just wanted to get my complaint out there to be heard in hopes that the alt mining can be stopped.

I hope the information helps those of you that are new to the game. Good luck to those of you that needed an extra voice, I do hope this helps, if not at least I tried.

Yes, but the OP either misunderstands what they're doing, or is far more generous about how the goldsellers are operating bots.

OK...

Alt is short for "Alternate," and that usually means someone's alternate characters besides their main one. You cannot tell if someone's playing an alt unless that player tells you, because this is purely a personal preference in how people prioritize their own characters and has nothing to do with game play.

Bot is short for "robot," and refers to a character being run by a program client-side (on the player's own computer) that controls the characters and runs it through some simple tasks, like following a pre-planned route and spamming one type of attack when it encounters a hostile mob or collecting material nodes. Technically, these types of bots are against ZOS' terms of services and should be reported.

Then there is grinding, and that's generally players in control of their own characters, but killing mobs over and over, or other similarly repetitive tasks, for XP or loot drops. These players can be a nuisance, but what they are doing is generally not against the terms of service. If you do encounter some being a nuisance in a quest zone or other area, you *can* submit a ticket that lets ZOS know this is a problem, and usually what they do is change something about that particular area to make it less appealing for grinding, like changing the loot drops or reducing the amount of XP they get from killing mobs there. However, players grinding dolmens in large groups so far have been tacitly approved by ZOS, given they have yet to change anything about dolmens to discourage it and this has been a thing for over a year now, so unfortunately you'll just have to learn to deal with that.

MMOs tend to be pretty complex communities, with a fair mix of players who act responsibly and conscientiously, players who don't, and players who are flat-out cheating, and for newer players this can be a bit overwhelming with understanding what's OK and what's not until they get the hang of it.

...and it's amazing how much flack I get for using the word ALT instead of BOT. So many people out there Troll there airways and computers, sitting behind a screen, have no fear of being bullies or being bullied...I do my best to just get a point across, not care about technical terminology or spelling...if I though I was back in school or college again going for my masters degree again, or an English editing degree of some sort, I might just be careful what I say and be scared of how I say it. This day and age, you have to be scared to say a thing as every one wants to sue you over stupid stuff.

My point wasn't to get everyone upset about it being ALTS / BOTS as it actually is BOTS that I was complaining about but the fact that I was wanting my voice heard...anyhow...I will go about drawing up a ticket for it as I now have enough evidence that i need to show what I was talking about.

What you seem to be calling alts everyone else calls bots.

Many of us have seen them but I have not seen them anywhere as you have even when I was farming dolmens for jewelry recently to level jewelry crafting.

I often farm the Alik'r Dolmens for the Jewelry. There's always tons of people there, but I always assumed they are all actual people and not bots.

Are there bots in those huge groups of players?

Wow, calm down. You used a wrong terminology that changed the entire meaning of your post, so this is a issue and people are right about correcting you.

But apart from that I agree, this is quite the issue. But ZOS isn't doing anything, either because they don't want to or don't have the necessary means. I think it's the first by the way.

Yeah there are a ton of players especially on heavy days...I do major rounds in the Alk'r Desert and you can find them on the rotation there.

There used to be quite a few bots by the dolmens, they'd just stand still and soak up the exp. Which is why ZOS implemented that AOE lightning bolt that appears if you stand still for too long at a dolmen. Which it doesn't really do enough damage to kill a player...but oh well, ZOS tried, right?

That is because ALT is a completely different thing to BOT. You have annoyed a multitude of perfectly innocent people by confusing the 2 terms.

The best thing you could do at this point would be to apologise, rather than keep digging a hole.
