Does battlegrounds ap contribute to your actual pvp rank?

So Iv done a ton of pvp and a lot of battlegrounds but never actually looked if my battlegrounds matches increase my pvp rank I’m level 40 so it takes millions of ap to increase in rank and therefore doing matches does very little to show me if it increases it
