This is just a story about a careless mistake that made me feel awful. However it ultimately turned out postively, and I feel so relieved that I had to come here and post about it.

Yesterday I got invited to a trading guild after trying unsuccessfully to sell my wares all day in zone chat. It's been a while since I've been in a trading guild, as I took a few months break from the game. Obviously I came back to find I had been kicked from my old guilds for inactivity. It was no biggie I thought, I'll just try to move a few wares through zone chat to build up my savings and finish where I left off buying home storage.

Well, selling in zone chat can be kinda rough some times. I ported from zone to zone to zone multiple times a day, listing my wares in chat and being met with mostly dead silence. I got a few whispers, but mostly those people didn't want to commit to a sale. I wasn't being outrageous with my prices I don't think, it's just the people whispering me were mad at me for following market trends. For example, one player was getting on me for listing an Exemplary Harmony Ring for 50K when he felt it should only be worth 500 gold (the in game tooltip listing). Another player scoffed at me for trying to sell the full Hollowjack Motif gold book for 100k, saying that it was only worth 10k. Things like that.

I had enough with sitting in loading screens porting all over Tamriel and not making any sales, so I started to look for a trading guild. To my surprise I got invited to a guild in one of the more popular spots on PC NA, and was eager to port there and start listing my wares.

A little too eager.

In my haste and ignorance I ended up listing a stack of gold items for the price of just one. Oof. I didn't realize it at the time either, I just went about my business for the next couple of hours. I got some chores done, and came back online to do some riding training when I was pleasantly surprised some of my items sold. I was like, well, let me get to the bank and pull some more of the gold mats to sell. And that's when I couldn't find the mats. So I checked my characters, home storage containers, and bank a few times before the realization hit me.

Don't tell me I listed that whole stack of gold items when I only meant to list one...

Yeah that's exactly what I did. The PC NA calculations (using TTC) totaled the items at being worth over 500k gold, if I would have sold then individually. I promptly felt so foolish and bummed out. How could I be so careless? I searched through 60 pages of trades on the guild sales history listings and managed to find the player that bought my items. Thinking I had nothing to lose, I sent them a mail explaining the situation and I didn't know what to expect. I honestly thought they would just ignore me, or tell me that it's too bad that's just how it goes sometimes.

But, that noble player actually agreed to let me off the hook. They sent me a COD with my stack of items attached in return for the gold they originally paid. I was so relieved! I left a few details and descriptions vague just to keep the story about the general experience but if that player happens to come across this and see it, I just wanted to say thank you again. They didn't have to be so kind, especially since the entire situation was the result of my carelessness. I am thankful that things turned out in a positive light, but I still did learn a lesson from this event. Take your time listing at those bloody guild traders! Also it never hurts to reach out to a fellow player and appeal to their humanity, I didn't have any faith it would work and I was pleasantly surprised.
