So do you wanna play: a Magicka Warden

Magicka warden is one of the newest playstiles in this game, so lemme quick recap what you can and can't do with this:

-You can't run solo in pvp
-You can't duel
-You can't run a damage dealer competitivly

What you can do then you ask?
You can build yourself for helping teammates in pvp, but without teammates you are considered an NPC
You are sitck to a healer-tank role for pve

I'm not on my wardens. I am pretty much DPS with some healing. No issues playing at all and I'm a mediocre player to begin with. They are mid-CP range (400-500) and 2 of them are magicka, one is stamina.

You were only important to sell boxes for moronwind. Now that ZOS is on to Bummerset, moronwind doesnt matter to them anymore. out with the old and in with the new

Mechanical Accuity mattered when clockwork was the sell. now it gets nerfed so ppl farm the new sets. and the cycle continues.

The mag warden spec is dead.

ZOS promised fixes (for over a year now), and instead of buffs we lose our only non-ult class CC.

But hey! That extra 2% on arctic wind was a real game-changer, wasn't it??

Actually I play a magicka warden in PVP with a really nice defile build. It's loads of fun to play. Ofc you dont have the gratification of a dd doing heavy damage and getting a lot of direct kills, but seeing whole ball zergs just melt in your defiles (especially in corrupted pollen which you simply recast when some earthgore pops) is super rewarding.

What you fail to take into account is the beauty of a Warden’s toolkit. The visuals are stunning. You don’t need a stun when others players will stand still, staring in amazement at your shiny colors and choice of using a Warden. In fact, I’d argue Mag Warden will overperform in PvP next patch because players will see so few they’ll forget how to counter them!

In terms of PvE, you can simply use add-ons to track your 8/10/12sec DoTs and perfect your rotation whilst being one of the best players in the game and having an amazing trial group to allow you to pull top end DPS. Easy right? Oh and use the Bear Ult btw - even with all of the above it won’t be enough without your wonderful companion

That's the only reason you'll want a MagDen on the team: Corrupting Pollen. We're the Defilers of the group.

Everything else we have to offer is done better by a Templar, or alrdy taken care of by our Stamina counterparts..

But I'm sure Pollen is next on the "To nerf"-list, along with other Troll buffs like Arctic Wind

I will say it's extremely satisfying following behind someone repeatedly using pollen on them, watching them desperately try to heal and getting permanently slowed from ice attacks

To test a theory, I equipped Fasalla's Guile and Sanctuary on a Mag Warden, put 75 points into Befoul, and then headed into Cyrodiil with my PVP guild. I didn't get a single kill, but everyone else noticed the difference and said something about it.

Funny how magden was advertised as a ice mage (notice how the Morrowind trailer had 3 or 4 winters revenge abilities that don’t exist in game whilst it’s shows no animal companion abilities except for the Eternal Knucklehead) Literally ever other class can pull Cryomancer off EXCEPT magden because ice destro has no stun... just roll a sorc or nb so you can have a stun that doesn’t you cost 200 ult and the option of having 8% more mag, a spammable execute which doesn’t rely on the proximity of the Eternal Derp, and more that 4 damaging abilities because apparently it’s anathema for ice to do anything besides tank

Last test from summerset pts seems to show that magden perform as good as other magclass for pve dps (alcast posted some parses). Tanking has always been fine and healing is probably ok. However it will probably take months before the crowd realizes that warden is fine, for whatever weird reason.

The problem with Warden PvE DPS is that is highly dependent on bear ultimate, and the pet tends to die and/or trigger some mechanics in trials. If you take away the bear, it's pretty much run-of-the-mill stamina DD (since there's 80% skill commonality between classes), and a sub-par magicka one since you can't entirely rely on guild and destro staff skills for DPS.

what do you expect when every ability is a delayed-reaction ability and they prize animations more than gameplay? I dont see this changing unless they revamp the whole skill line for instant cast stuff

My main is a magden mainly because it's as close to a druid as I can play here. It's the only reason I play one because it damn sure doesn't excel in any one area and nothing wows me about the class other than aesthetics. I do more damage when I play Stamden and I heal easier on my templar.

Yeh, my mag warden is pretty much parked for most of the time, I oh so wanted her to be a frost witch but hmmm, that didn't quite work out.

She's playable, just not in way that makes you say "Damn, that was good" which is a bit of a shame really.

I just came back to the game after 9 months hoping to find Mag Warden tweaked for the better...
Instead i find our 3 strongest signature MAgic skillls nerfed- Healing thicket, birds and now Fissure.
lulz.

Like Anhedonie i also just want a toon with a Druid aesthetic, but even if the pve dps can be 'competitive' the skills/rotations just feel clunky to me.
& As much as i suck with Stam builds in pvp there's a 95% chance i'm flipping this patch...

TBH the whole class should be overhauled/re-worked. It has alot of potential, but really is all over the friggin place.

Yeah, honestly not understanding some of the nerfs. I mean....warden can be a really good jack of all trades master of none class, but no one really wants to play that. Anywhere. Because at the end of the day this is a game that actively discourages group play.

I will say my warden healer is a lot of fun, and can effectively heal anywhere, any content....and my warden hp tank is my favorite tank now....but magicka dps? Its not even funny enough to be a joke.

It was looking briefly like magplar would parse lower than magden this patch, but nope. Magden is still at the bottom.

Just a reminder, wardens (of any kind, not just magden) comprise just 2% of the endgame population (1.5% on vHoF, where every player there has the warden). ZOS might as well delete the class how bad it is: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5055222/#Comment_5055222

I find the warden to be a great class for me. Doesn’t matter whether I play my stam, or mag versions, they are able to progress in the game, unlike some of my other characters, who struggle a lot. I don’t pvp, but I doubt it would matter. I’d be equally at a disadvantage with any of the classes until I figured things out.
