Balance the chance of Jewelry trait mats

At the moment, there is a serious discrepancy between how easy it is to obtain the various trait mats for Jewelry Crafting. To make triune, you just need to buy the mat, whereas to make infused, you have to grind a farming route where the chance of a rift is on a par with pre-change chance of getting pewter etc. I found five in a couple of hours of grinding yesterday. In very few of those rifts is the base material. You then need to be lucky enough to find rifts, and lucky enough to have a rift drop the mat, 9 more times before you have enough to refine one infused trait mat.

The grind to level Jewelry Crafting levels seems mostly balanced in terms of number of items to decon, and the logic for the insane grind to get plating mats makes sense to me as a method for delaying how fast people max out the skill. But to add this level of RNG to a simple trait mat seems insane. This is insanity is then added to by the fact that the RNG is worse for some traits than others.

I'm not sure if ZOS intends it, but many people will be more likely to just craft an untraited jewelry piece then transmute into the desired trait as 50 transmute stones will be less of a grind than the actual trait stones in some cases.

Well on the plus side you may have enough to craft a single item by the time you research all those traits....
....but it will make it harder to find the items in order to research, after you get the basic 3 done the other traits don't seem easy to come by.

As a deaf player that can never get on trial teams i have wait to buy a made ring/necklace....and it may be a few weeks to months until there is a suitable amount of mats to make and sell those at reasonable rates.
    Ummm stuff… about stuff…or something.

How do you get infied jewelry and trait mats? What do theese psijic rifts/portals look like?
I have the psijic order skill line but I haven’t seen any newvthings to harvest jewelry mats and clams.

The jewelry comes from the rifts. They share space with where rune stones are, if you have the psijic skill line, the first passive lets you see them.

You could probably get the trial mats (Bloodthirsty?) from normal trial reward urns as well? (Not just vet)

absolutely correct Redspecter, that was my game plan. Got one items (ring, necklace) of each trait and spread the research out over my 14 toons. Now I can level them all up to make basic copies and give them to my master crafter and her apprentice. Well at least i have a plan. lol Go Bal-Busters
