Are certain places better than others? I've been going around the zones i am in for time being just running around for about an hour gathering raw materials. Some places, I will find a ton ancestor silk and ruby ash wood, then certain zones, I won't find much, but i'll find a ton of lower level raw materials and very fewer higher level materials.

I've heard that the starting zones are the best. Also based upon my experience I also feel the same way.

Your crafting mats are 50% on your crafting skill points and 50% on your level. So if you are CP 160 but never put skill points in, you'll get 50% rubedite ore and 50% iron ore.

All zones have approx. the same amount of resource nodes, but because the starter islands are smaller zones, the nodes appear very dense compared to other base game zones or especially a larger zone like Morrowind where nodes are much more spread out.

This is what I was hoping to find out, thank you!

I always feel like the dlc zones have more nodes. I like to farm hews bane and Gold Coast...you can’t go five feet without hitting another node.

I farm in Rivenspire and Bangkorai. The chance at finding overland chests that have actual valuable items is a decent return for more spread out nodes.

I find that Wrothgar has a plentiful bounty of mats. Maybe it's because there's less farming pressure, but I get tons of mats there. Even on the roads you can't go 50' without having to dismount and gather something!

Outside Riften past the guild traders is pretty good. I find it really easy to spot mats in Stonefalls west of Davon’s Watch too.

I've hit a low of Dreugh Wax so have been trying to farm it for the last few days. I had to upgrade my sight thing to 3 to try and increase the amount of ancestor silk i'm spotting but its just so much less visible than Rubidite Ore or the red logs.

I'm farming in Auridon because I wasn't having any luck in Craglorn or Hews Bane. I have farmed in the gold coast before and that was decent too.

Might try Stone falls tonight since its a bit darker so the gold light should be more visible on the ancestor silk.

Nodes respawn faster when there are lots of players in the zone, so Auridon is great for farming - so many new players, so few of them harvesting columbine. ;) Undaunted zones are good for this too.

For ancestor silk, it's worth trying Glenumbra or Stormhaven - the zones are very green, with good sightlines. Or you can turn off the grass in the video settings, it makes a difference.

I like farming in the starter zones and Wrothgar. That being said, I will take pretty much any zone/area not being farmed by other players over those. Problem with popular farming areas is that they're popular.

On a side note, I try to multi task too. When I'm in the mood to farm mats, I'll usually take out one of my alts, gather skyshards/lorebooks and pick up mats along the way.

Dozens of folks in K roost this morning but if you plan several routes so that you can change on the fly you can still do pretty good. Taking all nodes I gathered just over 800 pewter and about 1500 iron in a little ovet 2 hours. As a pointer take smithing nodes as well as jewelry as they not only help others behind you but if you dont and you get back to it first then its a 100 % chance it will still be a smiting node

Edit: sorry didnt read full post, I like upper Craglorn for general farming. I know the routes like the back of my hand and there is a pretty even mixture of nodes on the routes I use. Plus the Nirn stones still bring in a little extra gold to boot.

I have been farming the starting locations as a lot of you have mentioned, I seem to have the best luck in Khenarthi's Roost. i also seem to finding a lot of mat around Davon's Watch, been finding a lot of Ancestor Silk there, which is what I have been searching for the most.

HERE'S THE THING NOBODY SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND (in game anyhow):

the jewellry seams share nodes with ore.

if we want more jewellry materials, we all need to collect ore. This will drastically raise the amount of jewellry seams around Tamriel.
