First of all? I'm pretty much a whale. I've bought lots from the store, even expensive houses. I've complained about prices before but only because I think it'll hurt ESO's own income through their greed rather than because I couldn't afford it. I recently picked up the physical collector's edition of Summerset, so I'm definitely a spender.

I'm now less likely to spend money on ESO.

Why? The market nag.

To block it off so that addon authors can't even interact with it was a really nasty, inconsiderate thing to do, ZOS. I'm autistic. I have a routine that I like to do. Such as getting riding training on all of my characters in short order. Your market nag stresses me out, and adds anxiety to my logins. That's not great, is it? Furthermore, it takes away from the fun of opening the store to see what's new for myself.

Seeing that there each login actually serves to disincentivise me. It creates a negative link between the crown store and anxiety. It means that I'm less likely to check out the crown store just out of spite, frankly, because this bothers me so much.

The old advert (quite considerately) was part of the external system, it was available to be tampered with so those who didn't want it didn't have to deal with it. And it was a lot smaller. Now it's GIANT. I know that you believe that all of your customers are neurotypical extraverts going by this nag screen, but it's not true. It's incredibly insensitive to anyone who has OCD, autism, or any disorder which this would interrupt the flow of. This kind of thing has been the straw that broke the camel's back with other MMOs, for me. Where I stopped spending, then eventually stopped playing.

You need to make this a part of the base UI, or have an option to turn it off. And you need to do that ASAP. This isn't going to entice all of your customers. You guys need to learn about dopamine vs. acetylcholine and how basically this kind of temptation does, yes, attract extraverts but basically chases away autistic people who otherwise would happily spend money to support your game. It's almost a weaponised way to reduce interest in your game amongst certain demographics.

It's a Very Bad Idea.

Please, do something about it.
