Wow 5 hours....hell, I have spent more time looking for a particular motif to finish a master writ before. Mage's Guild is the worst to level....this isn't even close.

insanly boring to do. No interest whatsoever..

    This.

The little I've done of it / seen in guides, it looks boring af. Completely, utterly lame and repetitive. With basically no content. Idk, I honestly like questing. But the quests have to have some kind of essence to it. These quests don't.

This. It’s not like the quest line is even challenging or interesting. 1 million lore books was enough now I need to close 1 million portals.

Unless this post is a joke, seriously, I am relieved that it takes 5 hours to do the Psijic skill line..

That from a casual (but patient) player that has max mages guild and undaunted on two chars.

Why do you want to unlock everything from day one? What will you do next?

Fighters guild is killing thousands of daedra, mages guild is an annoying book hunt through all of Tamriel, Undaunted is hunting for achievements in order to gather points. I'd say in comparison to that, Psijic guild is faster than all of them, maybe on par with mage's guild.

Doing It for the first time may be fun, or may be perceived legit at least. Having to do the same process for 10 alts it's just boring as hell. I do not want instant leveling on my first char. I Just would like to avoid this boring and pointless grind on every alt.

And this is why I don't make alts. Simple enough solution.

it's just not challenging or engaging enough to be "fun", especially on multiple chars. As such it is FAR worse than say, undaunted, which is actually great fun on the first (and 2nd) char. Doing it on the 12th char, psijic is lorebooks insanity 2.0

This is a perfect example of why I hate questing in esopve, you come to the location of what or who youre gonna confront, and what meets you is an ocean of pugs waiting for this one npc to spawn so they can kill it for the quest, it becomes a competition of who can manage to hit it enough to get recognition so you can advance your quest, those that fail will have to wait another 5minutes so they can get another try at it. Yay immersion.

No imagine doing this 10 years ago in WoW, except only the 1st person to hit the mob got credit at all.

I've only found two time breaches and I'm already losing the will to live. They just took one of the most frustrating elements of the game (crafting surveys) and decided to build the progression of an entire skill line around them. Lazy design and thoroughly boring.

So many things that could be said, but I'll be short and sweet.

They should make the maps quick-slottable, I feel like that would help, me at least...

The Augur makes it bearable, listen to his little quips. He's funny.

It's really no worse than finding a billion books, or grinding a billion dolmens/zombies/daedra. It just feels that way because everyone is trying to power grind it right away. Take a break, do something fun in between. Go stab some haughty elves.

5 hours would be completely reasonable

If the quests were actual quests and not just a game of hide and go seek with portals that don’t even hide. It’s nothing but a way to sink time, and it’s not even done well.

For me it's a lot overkill. Very boring and it gets old very fast when I have to do it on 9 characters.

They could have put markers, instead I have to keep a site opened in a secondary monitor to check a map with precise locations.

And there is a lot of hypocrisy in this thread (no rare though around here), I would like to see how many on PC are running for the Mages guild books without addons.

Surely an addon will come out for this too and I'll wait for that to do the quest with many of my alts, I'm just getting a big headache right now from this quest.

Simple QoL @ZOS, put an option to turn markers off for hard explorer players and let me play the game instead of wasting time, because that's what it is for me and definitely I'm not alone, there is a reason skyshards, lorebooks, destinations and minimap addons exists and the majority use them. If you truly analyze Hard Data, you are perfectly aware (surely you are but did nothing about).

Now that I have actually done it start to finish:
It's not the length of the quest. It is the absurdly grindy nature of the quest coupled with the fact that they locked a fairly powerful skill line behind it that most of my alts will likely need. If this was simply part of summerset and they locked a cool skin or momento behind it, nobody would be saying a word. On the other hand, potentially doing this 7-8 times has me rethinking my commitment to this game. Maybe an overrection based on lack of sleep, but man, this is simply the worst questline in any game I have ever played, and I know I am going to have to do it several more times.

It's the perennial problem that ZOS struggles to solve - how to keep the vets entertained without pissing off the newcomers.

If this was my first character just at the start of levelling this would be a _great_ quest line, getting sent all over Tamriel, opening up wayshrines, seeing the sights - bliss.

Even the first time through with a vet character is ok, getting to revisit a lot of the old haunts.

It's the 2nd, 3rd ... 11th character that has me getting all "marvin the android" like :/

IMO they should open up questlines such as this, for alts. Connect it to eidetic memory or something. Make it so you can pay 500 000 gold to unlock the skilline if you already have, or something. It´s one thing to level up a weapon skill. But the gathering of lorebooks you already have, yada yada... it doesn´t add anything to the game.

Usually I would use softer words, but not this time. The quest line is uninspired, boring, and monotonous. Leveling up the skill line is ultra-grindy. It's blatantly obvious that whoever designed it did so lazily. The person or persons who came up with and approved this garbage should be fired. Twenty years of gaming, and this is some of the worst content I've ever played.

i'm forced to agree with this. it's also poorly designed, in some areas, the search area is far too large and NOTHING indicates the actual rift until you nearly fall into it, all while you're wading knee deep in trash mobs or dealing with extremes in terrain.

Only 5 hours for a new skill line with a skill that will be permanently on my PVE skill bar? That's great.

This will be the quickest guild line to level by a long margin.

I've been doing the quests - they're not a grind imo.

Along the way I've farmed enough jewellery nodes for multiple writs plus hit three psijic nodes for an infused ring, a kuta plus multiple other runes.

    Yeah- fire the devs.
