Everyone's games are getting bigger and bigger, and compression (video/texture/audio) seems to have gone out the window since it's not longer "needed" on consoles anymore.

Final Fantasy 15 PC version? 155GB with 4k textures, 100 without
Doom, something like 80GB with all the DLC
CoD: Infinite Warfare is something like 130GB
etc
etc

It's an MMO, a rather large one. It will take up alot of space. If you don't want to dedicate the space, play a smaller game.

That's fine, but that is still only what max of 200 GB in size. So if the OP needs a 2 TB drive that means they have probably at least 1.6 TB of data already. I work as a cloud provider for law firms, many of which have to save a lot of video files, and 1.6 TB is just a silly amount of data/storage. OP seems to have a lot of data stored/backed up. Could probably pair that down, or use some 3rd part off site hosting company to store a lot of it and remove it from the computer to help.

I have a 1TB drive with ESO, LOTRO, SWTOR, Total War Warhammer 2, Destiny 2 and a crap ton of smaller games and still have around 400 gigs of space, what are you talking about?

If you want to drive a Hammer, you will need a larger garage right?

Yep. Also makes me think back to the early years I was involved in computing.
My Apple ][+ with it's amazing 48k of RAM...
The 5-1/4" disks for that Apple ][+, with their amazing 140k storage space (Ultima 1 was on four discs, I think )
The 10 megabyte harddrive we had kicking around in a corner from the 8086 PC's my dad worked with...
The set of four 256mb RAM modules I found in a drawer, from when I upgraded my first Mac...

Aaaaaanyway. I keep 15-20% of my 1TB harddrive as free space, as I recall being told that you should keep room for patchers/installers/caches/etc to do their work while you're running programs. I've not had any trouble installing anything yet. /shrug

Not sure what you're talking about. I have ESO on a 250GB SSD drive...Along with about 2 other MMO's I currently play. I'm nowhere NEAR maxing out my drive

only 135GB for BOTH live and PTS.

I have 500 GB and now while downloading patch I found myself in trouble, just 1,5 GB left on the hard drive, hope the installation will end... Didn't know I had no room, now I know I need to kick the GW2 out into space.

I remember when I thought Supreme Commander' 30GB was massive...

I use a MacBook as my main computer, but I had to install this game on a PC because Macs have absurdly small hard drives for modern computers...

Granted that's a fault on Mac... my next main home machine is going to be a PC and this is just one of many reasons...

My original plan in getting ESO was to be able to play a game without having to use a Windows partition... but this MMO is about 1.5 to 2x as 'large' as other games, so that plan ended on day one.

200gb is a LOT when your computer only has 500gb total and you're burning up 150 of that for Mac and apps over there.

I'm currently updating on a computer that, PC side, has a 290gb drive... But 119gb free. Hoping it doesn't stop at some point from disk space, because this is my older machine, the newer machine has even less space on it...

I'm still wondering where the OP got the "10GB weekly updates" part of his post from.

Aside from the (lol) 2TB hard drive he seems to think he needs, where did that magic number come from?

I've had the game since at least 2/9/2016 and I've yet to see a consistent weekly update, much less a weekly "10GB" update.

If we do some lazy math and throw out the extra months since I've switched the game to Steam, thats two years. Two years x 10GB would be... eh. Roughly 1TB.

Game is taking up about 91GB of my hard drive, with the patch data. No where near that 1TB, or your magical 10GB per week number, sorry.

And, you're right. Not everyone lives in the US, but a 1TB Performance grade hard drive costs 70$USD, 88$Canadian, £65 (pounds), 100$Australian, ooorrrr about 80 euro. These prices include shipping. Sorry, the only prices I'm unfamiliar with are Russia's, as the financing company I worked for had no business dealings with Russia.

For the most part, that isn't expensive. It might be considered expensive in Russia, but again, I'm not familiar with Russia's prices or general level of income. It also might be considered expensive if you had to pay for a new hard drive every month, but... you don't. A good hard drive lasts for a minimum of 3 years, assuming you don't get a bad drive and you maintain your components (clean your cases out, friends! Dust buildup is a component killer).

I guess you don't want to here about the collective 400+ GB I have currently being used up by Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 4, NV, and 3 lol.

I keep games on a 1TB drive and regularly delete games I finish and don't play anymore. He probably thinks just because HD is huge, there's no need for disk management.
