Dear Zenimax, the vain and narcissistic part of your player base needs your help!
If you want to show allegiance to a guild by wearing its tabard (therefore displaying its name below yours) AND have a half-decent looking character, you only have two choices at the moment:
1) Use a costume, so the tabard is hidden. No outfits for you, mister (or mistress)!
2) Design your outfit around the tabard, which limits your options by quite a bit, since the tabard is always the same. So you end up with a bunch of samey looking characters.
Unfortunately the tabard is always shown above outfits, which misses the point of them. It's hiding quite a bit of the outfit you cobbled together so carefully.
As I see it, there are several approaches to this:
a) Give us the option to hide the tabard in the outfit station, like it's already possible with helmets.
b) Add an option to the game's settings that enables us to display a specific guild's name without wearing a tabard.
c) Instead of throwing big ugly rugs over our shoulders, add some sort of badge that people can wear instead, attached to their chests or arms.
Also, for PvP-Players, add a little flag they can attach to their backs, like the japanese had during battle. Customizable by the guild's leader, of course. Make it a crown store item if you must, because I think this is an awesome thing to have. I don't play PvP. I just think this is funny because I have no sense of good humor.
Thanks for reading, discussing and picking it apart out of principle.
