Nasty Guild Bank Deposit Bug to Fix - ZOS Long Aware

    Wow, and here I lambasted a guild member publically and threw them out of the guild for stealing 1M gold as they were the only person with access. And it could have been caused by a bug?

    Not really, but you can see why games try to get these things right..

    Bump.

    This needs fixing ZOS. My trade guild has lost 700k of known deposits in the last week.

    Hurry up and acknowledge this and fix it.

    Funny that nobody from the ZOS Staff shows some interest in this thread.

    As always: Stay silent and perhaps it goes to page 99 or the same hole where our items are.

    Or it‘s just a new „Gold-sink“...

    We are well past the ‘trying to fix it’ phase and long into the ‘lalalala. I can’t hear you phase.’

    Anyway our guild uses the mail for donations. Always speaks well of a game when the players have to find work arounds for the bugs.

    700k. In a week. For one guild.

    This is absurd. When I deposit gold to support my guild some percentage of that is just disappearing into a gold sink bug? A gold sink bug that's been a known issue for years?

    Collectively the guildies getting hit by this bug are spending a lot of real-world money to play a functional game. These are the same people that are spending a lot of time to build up the game and make the ESO community as vibrant as it is. And yet a known issue that effectively steals gold is allowed to persist over a period of years?

    Someone explain to me how this is acceptable.

    As another GM i agree with this it is something we have been dealing with for 2 years and something needs to be done with the deposits to the guilds. we also get several people that say they deposited and nothing shows and then it starts issues haveing to explain every week that ZOS ate there deposit . with this being said it is a lot more work on all GM's to have to go and explain this to members every week. i to would like to see this issue fixed.

    I've posted about this before (over a year ago). Still an ongoing problem, and we have no real way of measuring it, because it is intermittent, and the only time we know is if we kick someone out for not meeting requirements and they go nuts because they have been depositing.

    It is so common we had to create a standard response, and mail the entire guild.

    "There is a known bug with ESO that sometimes deducts the gold from your inventory, but does NOT deposit it into the guild bank.

    You can check to see if your deposit registered by going to the Guild Screen -> History -> Bank -> Deposits

    If you have that bug happen:
    1 - Note the time/date of the deposit that vanished
    2 - Lodge a support ticket with ESO to get your gold back
    3 - Mail your raffle money letting us know the bug has hit you

    This is an issue that effects all guilds, and seems to be random."

    We have also contacted support dozens of times from our GM account reporting the issue. Never get a response.

    It would be great if instead of worrying about new content, they would actually fix this bug first :(

    But they can only check their history is we show the guild bank balance. So it's literally a catch 22. Some of us aren't lucky enough to have programs written to help us in the game. Zos has known about this for far too long. I know it's happened to me in other guilds. I wonder how many times it's happen and I just don't know it. Or any one else for that matter.

    I posted in Aaru's thread an year ago and I'm posting in this one, hoping but not holding my breathe that we get some type of answer. Even if it's we aren't gonna fix it. At least it will be something. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

    I only provided Customer Support with the Guild name, character name, date (was a Friday deposit and my report was made on Sunday) place and approximate time of the missing deposit.

    The funds were refunded to me along with a note, which was nice and mentioned a different character name and place of my deposit. Point being I messed up my report by giving CSR wrong character name and place.

    So, you don't need perfect information to get a refund. If you suspect your deposit didn't make it in the bank, send a ticket.

    These guilds deserve the members support with the deposits and I hate questioning busy people who devote so much of their time and energy to running the enormous 500 member guilds. Not only should the bankers stop walking away from me when I'm doing business they should give me a receipt.

    I've also lost deposits to this problem - it needs to be fixed! It's particularly bad when you can't view the deposit history, so you can't even tell if your deposit went in or not (no privilege to see guild bank gold).

    I made an addon that records guild deposits that you make through the UI. It is kind of a hack as I reach into the deposit button callback and hook in a routine to log the transaction. The info just gets stored into the saved variables. At least it provides some logging that lets you know for sure that you did make the deposit through the UI, and to where and when, in case later the information is useful to help resolve a lost deposit. If someone wishes to take this code and make something more generally useful, please do.
    -- The addon namespace
    RecordGuildDeposits = {}

    -- Shorthand
    local Me = RecordGuildDeposits

    -- Our name
    Me.name = "RecordGuildDeposits"

    -- Init function. Grab saved variables.
    function Me:Initialize()
       self.saved = ZO_SavedVars:New(self.name .. "SavedVariables", 1, nil, {})
       if not self.saved.deposits then
          self.saved.deposits = {}
       end

       -- Hook into guild bank deposit confirmation
       Me.Std_DepositFunction = ESO_Dialogs.GUILD_BANK_DEPOSIT_GOLD.buttons[1].callback
       ESO_Dialogs.GUILD_BANK_DEPOSIT_GOLD.buttons[1].callback = Me.DepositFunction
    end

    -- Called on load
    function Me.OnLoaded(event, addonName)
      if addonName == Me.name then
         Me:Initialize()
      end
    end

    -- Record gold deposits
    function Me.DepositFunction(dialog)
       local control = ESO_Dialogs.GUILD_BANK_DEPOSIT_GOLD.customControl;
       local container = control:GetNamedChild("Container")
       local depositWithdrawCurrency = container:GetNamedChild("DepositWithdrawCurrency")
       local amount = ZO_DefaultCurrencyInputField_GetCurrency(depositWithdrawCurrency)
       local guildName = GetGuildName(GetSelectedGuildBankId())
       local timeStamp = GetTimeStamp()
       local timeString = GetDateStringFromTimestamp(timeStamp) .. " " .. GetTimeString()
       Me.saved.deposits[timeStamp] = {timeString, guildName, amount}
       Me.Std_DepositFunction(dialog)
    end

    As a guild leader who relies on the Guild Bank History tab to assign the proper ranks for guild bank and guild store access based on the type and amounts of items and gold deposited I can't properly run my guild if this remains broken.

    Wow! With this being such a frequent bug, I'm glad I send donations directly to a GM...Though I'm sure that can mess up as well, I take screen shots in case.

    The problem with this (and why as a GM I would prefer that the guild bank worked), is that mail is only 70-something slots? And a 490+ guild with people mailing raffle money to me isn't the only thing I get mails about.

    Money that is mailed to me needs recording for ticket sales before *I* put it in the guild bank where it is needed for trader bids, but there's still a chance that is going to mess up and leave us short for a trader.

    Also I like funds to go direct into the gb, because there is a paper trail (iykwim) - yes not everyone can see the gold transactions on the bank log, but officers can, and having stuff mailed to me potentially leaves me open to criticism because there's no clear log of "Guildmate put in x amount, and all the officers can see they did" - there's no log on mails to me personally, and therefore I don't like getting guild gold coming in that way - it's uncheckable. I am trustworthy, I also want that to be something that others can confirm, that is as much protection for me against criticism as it is protection to guild members.

    I don't even accept emails with items or gold attached. They all get returned to sender for this very reason. It leaves no record or paper trail. And I too am trust worthy but I'd rather there be record of the deposits that my officers can see because they do most of the promotions based on those deposits. As it stands today I've left a message in the MOTD for every member making deposits to check with an officer to verify that there's a record of it. If there isn't they are to open a support ticket so get ready to get slammed "Support"!

    If it was a easy fix, I am assuming they would of had it fixed by now. But like many other bugs around it probably requires a major code rewrite to fix. Or, they have no clue how to fix it.

    First off, My@ name has changed to @Bubbulzz. Now, 70k of my gold disappeared this week and I was not aware until I got the dreaded "You didn't meet your obligations this week" mail. After checking deposit history and a panic attack or 2, I realized that of the several deposits made during the week, 2 were missing. Both were the gold deposits. I've also since then learned that this issue has been around since beta. Why? The total loss from my guild this past week is 700k. That's 700,000 gold just poof, gone! How can Zos let this continue? My guess is, as long as it doesn't affect their profits, they don't care. This has been my favorite game for years and I am really disappointed that Zos cares so little about their players that, they would allow this bug to exist for so many years without addressing it. This used to be a rare bug, but now it's several people every week that deposit to a guild bank and their deposit is lost and not recorded. I don't know how any system can be built without ensuring that this is sacred and safe, but clearly, it was figured out how to fail in this capacity. It's been going on for a very long period and I know support is aware since my guild members regularly put in tickets, the issue is visible, and they get their gold refunded. How about you just fix it? Please remedy. I'm tired of 5-10 people a week relying on your code and finding the gold that they deposited never makes it to the guild bank.

    I'm double upset that I spent a couple of months developing a guild management addon (since the guild management tools are so deficient) that relies on this mechanism/data being reliable to then find out yet another way ZOS short-changed the player base. I pay wayyyy too much cash into this game to see such lack of pride of work in return and I'm so tired of explaining to members that the reason they weren't entered into guild raffles is because ZOS doesn't know how to ensure data integrity in their systems.

    I lost a million gold by this bug a few months ago and sadly didn't get it back after 3 tries of contacting ZOS for help. :disappointed:
    I have a theory that it mainly happens if the person who is depositing gold into the guildbank can't see the amount of gold in the guildbank, since it's only happened then. Now I always deposit 1 gold before depositing any other sums in guildbanks just to try to be on the safe side, but this bug definitely needs a fix asap..!
