Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Do you think ESO should remberse pre-ordering customers for time spent on server down maintenance ?

o:) I think ESO is an unbelievable game so far, and all new games especially games of this magnitude have teething problems. But when the customer spends their hard earned up front on pre order, and one of the benefits is early release, but the customer can not access due to the main NA Server being down due to maintenance for such a long period (x2 so far), yes I feel it would be right for ESO- ZOS to re-emberse the server down time and add it on to the original free 30 day period. Do you agree ?

Oh my Talos, stop it. There are already enough threads on a topic that shouldn't require any.

No, they shouldn't compensate us for maintenance time during an early access/launch phase of the game. No, you don't deserve anything special. No, you didn't pay anything extra for it. Stop it. Stop it right now.

No. What would they be reimbursing? The time you're being given is free to begin with.

Would be nice, but I doubt that will happen. And as a new MMO everyone should know that things like this could happen. Also, it hasn't been too bad, I feel bad for those who have actual problems with there accounts.

You might want to review the user agreement, I'm sure there's a clause in there covering this issue (and thus releasing Zenimax from doing what you suggest). If not, then shame on the lawyers!

In all seriousness, I've never seen a company reimburse money for something like this (early-start anyways) -- you might see something like a free trinket that's mailed in game to all players as a peace offering though.

I think it would be a nice gesture, but I don't feel like I am owed anything. I actually missed the first time doing something else, and this one is for the benefit of the game. I play MMOs with the knowledge that sometimes servers need to be brought down to fix things, and prevent further exploiting. I look more favorable on the game that rewards you when there is unexpected maintenance of an extended period. I think you should just wait and see what they fixed, and if they plan to offer us something.

no. early access was a bonus to pre-ordering, but also to help shake out the servers.

It's launch. Stuff happens. Stuff breaks. Doesn't work like you thought when 100's of thousands of players are hitting the server structure.

The downtime sucks, but something happening that would require downtime during this period was entirely predictable.

Any new game is going to have bugs and maintenance required. Having played some of Bethesda's games in the past, I know that they will get it right. Being early participants just means that we are helping them to tweak and improve the game for the players that will be joining us later this week.

Well, we kind of did pay extra for it. Suggesting the early access wasn't a major selling point would just be intentionally obtuse.

Please stop White Knighting, it only makes people hate you and the game more.

So if they cancelled early access all together, you wouldn't have cared? It's just bonus right?

    Stop with this disingenuous defense.

At this point if the servers come up, no big deal and everyone moves on. If it stretches into tonight...they are starting to have a problem.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that the retail price of the game changed after pre-orders went out. Care to provide a link?

You paid the exact same price as someone who will order the game on 4/4. The Explorer's Pack, Early Access, etc. were all free bonuses. You did not pay a cent more for them.

Sure, they will refund you for the price you paid during down time. Since you paid $0, your refund is $0

Why can't people understand., This is an early access event, NOT the official launch. MMORPGs use this time to find big bugs and fix them before the official release of the game on the 4th. Nowhere in any official writing did the company state that this early access was for anything other.

Also, read your ToS that you accepted when you installed the client. They don't owe you anything. If that truly doesn't satisfy you, or you are hurt by that notion, I've got some bad news for you, you should stop playing MMORPGs.

I am not posting this to be mean or sound like an arse, but use common sense, people. Every MMORPG ever launched had similar stipulations for THESE EXACT REASONS. And at least this company was smart enough to actually do an early access event instead of going straight to launch. Things would have been REALLY bad if the bugs they are fixing right now were active during the official launch.

No, you didn't pay anything extra for it.

You are completely wrong there. I most definitely paid extra precisely for early access. That being said, I do not expect compensation for this down time. I only hope this downtime is a fluke and once things get running smoothly there'll be little downtime in the future.

As far as you telling others to stop, that is not your place. They have as much right to post their opinion as you have to not read it.

There's nothing to compensate for. You didn't pay anything extra for your early access, you only got that because you pre-ordered and it's a part of said pre-order. People who buy the game after launch still pay the same amount as you did.

I get that it's frustrating for everyone that they aren't able to play at the moment, but keep in mind that early access (which you got for FREE) is usually used to iron out bugs before official launch. Thus, sadly, you're not entitled to a (partial) refund because you didn't pay anything extra for it to begin with.

Edit: I'm sorry if that came off as harsh, it wasn't my intention. :)

    Yes.

Because not everyone in the world is the same as the people who say "No"

Some people put more thought into there time and money.

And because people technically purchased this few days early playtime and its been removed after they have purchased its grounds for them to either get a refund or be reimbursed.

Its not grounds to troll the game though like some are doing..

@Gohlar how much extra did you pay to get in early access 3 days? Did you know that there was going to be a sale tonight/tomorrow morning right when the game launches that would give you a discount? Otherwise you paid nothing extra for early access. (Especially since we are in the 3 day Early Access and not the 5 day that Imp got (or those who paid base price for digital download reg version)

Early access was a bonus, and terms of service don't guarantee uptime. It's nearly impossible for any internet based goods or services to guarantee uptime. There are too many things that are out of their control.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not all love, rainbows and unicorns. I think this launch has actually been fairly smooth in comparison to a lot of other MMO launches, but I've had the dreaded Unknown Error bug kicking me out of the game since day 1 and it's been very frustrating.

Do I think I'm entitled to some sort of compensation? No. I'm just glad they're fixing this stuff now. I was angry that there wasn't downtime before now! Now, oh well, I got some work I can do today waiting for it to come back up.
