Does AP earned in Battlegrounds contribute to increasing your end of campaign rewards tier for your home campaign?

Nope but it does contribute towards the leader boards which have a similar reward structure as VMA and somewhat Cyro. You get a gold item each for being on the leader boards top 100 for 3 different leader boards. Land grab, Death match and flag games i think. If you hit J then go to leader boards on the top right then click on battlegrounds it will bring up the 3 i listed and you can see where you are in points and if you are in the top 100

Oh, so the rumoursci heard about grinding for AP for emp is not actually true, right?

Nope. Only AP gained inside Cyrodiil and IC, within the specific campaign counts towards that campaign's leaderboard, and implicitly emperorship. It's about like soccer, Cyrodiil is like the championship, Battlegrounds are like the cup competition.
