Will Xbox Voice Chat be Fixed in Summerset?

For many weeks now, there has been an issue with the in-game voice chat on ESO on Xbox. Anytime a player enters an Xbox party chat and then joins back into an ESO game chat channel, they will not be able to hear anything unless they go through with a hard reset of their entire console. This is a huge inconvenience because hard resets take a little bit of time and it is not always feasible. How can i do that to get coms back at the beginning of a BGs match. Should everyone in a trial wait until everyone does a hard reset so we can get coms? We have resorted to using Xbox party chat however this is unreliable when many players need to be in the same party (12 for a trial) to the point where that will crash at some point too.

This all started weeks ago when Xbox upgraded their social UI. Something they did conflicts with the ESO code that corresponds to voice chats.

Have you guys been in contact with Microsoft about this issue?

Will it be fixed in update 18?

What information do you have for us on progress towards a fix?

Bugs on Xbox have been going unfixed for multiple months, please do not let this one fall to the way-side. It's literally killing guild interaction.

P.S: this is on top of the disappearing chat channels issue which has been happening since CLOCKWORK FREAKING CITY UPDATE with no fix although that's like a minor issue at this point compared to this new issue that started a few weeks ago.

Do you mean cortana?

This is a temporary fix because switching cortana on and off is the same action as a hard reset.

If you join another party at any point in time after turning off/on cortana you will need to do it again which causes your Xbox to reset itself thus resulting in a huge inconvenience for the player and anyone else in the group forced to wait for that player.

Yeah, even I have voice problems in game and Cortana has never been enabled on my console - I just checked, and it wanted me to agree to T&C's before it let me in, so Cortana is definitely disabled.

The issue itself has nothing to do with Cortana. Turning Cortana on and off is essentially the same as a hard reset so it is temporary fix without having to unplug your Xbox and what not.

However, if you use this fix and then join an Xbox party at any point in time for any reason after, you will have to do another hard reset or turn Cortana on or off AGAIN to get ESO game chat back. This is not a reasonable solution because it causes the player to have to reset their entire Xbox.

Is this an Xbox issue, or an ESO issue? I ask because this happens to me. I'll be in a group with m friends, and if I step away long enough for the game to log me out, or my console shuts off, when I log back in the game with my friends, and rejoin the group and party, I can't hear them at all, despite joining. I looked up a solution, and as you mentioned above, I have to hard reset my console, then restart the game, and rejoin my group/party, then everything is back to normal.

It's an ESO issue, however, it was not the fault of ZoS that it happened because this started happening the same day Xbox upgraded their social UI so there is an issue with conflicting code. Even thiough ZoS did not cause the issue, their product now is affected by something Microsoft did so they need to get on the horn with them and figure it out.

However the chat channels disappearing since CLOCKWORK CITY UPDATE is an ESO issue 100%.

I don't have cortona on my xbox one but yeah I was wondering if eso was bricking my voice chat... it made me go get one of my headsets exchanged or no reason >_>' then store didn't have my exact headset so had to go buy one for $25 more >_>' fml

This may be the third or fourth thread I've seen on this issue with absolutely zero acknowledgment from any ZOS employee. You would think fixing a broken chat in a multi-player game would be a top priority. I can live with the other chat issues we've had in this game since day one.....but an issue that's ignored and that causes you to have to do a hard reset after every time you go into a party chat is inexcusable.
I sure hope this issue gets fixed come Summerset, but I have doubts it will be. Not one of the patch notes for Summerset/Update 18 addresses this issue. It's one thing to release a free DLC (for eso plus members) with this issue going on. It's a whole other issue if this problem still exists after having all your players PURCHASE this game.

Their continued silence makes me think that this issue wont be fixed in update 18. If it was going to be why wouldn't they just pop in one of these threads and say so

Even for raids

That way you and co trip your own audio to chat ratio and mute, etc as well as text chat and keep in touch when your game crashes

We've been using party chat but unfortunately since Xbox did their last few rounds of updates the party chats seem to get unstable and fall apart with 12 people in there for a trial.

My biggest gripe is not having coms upon going into a BG match where its all strangers and no one wants to party up. Game chat that you automatically get put into is much less intrusive.

Except I paid for a game that has in-game chat features. Should I not expect some type of fix or some money back?
Party chat works to a point, but like the previous poster said, party chat is now unstable as well with large groups.
Guild chat 1 should be a place where everyone from the guild should be able to come in and join the conversation without having to worry about being invited to a party chat. This crap is completely ruining communications within the guilds and with random groups formed for trials and battlegrounds.

When you join a group or whatever it forces you into the game's voice chat and that can potentially trip out mic audio.

Agreed this issue is terrible on Xbox. People have to hard reset their whole Xbox to join game chat for trials or pvp game chat and many people don’t want to create a whole Xbox party and invite 12 people, and then when you mention that idea people say stuff like Xbox party chat has never worked for them. So you have to wait for people to hard reset their whole system or people just boot the other people from the trial, all because of this new bug.

Chat bugs are one of the most important issues plaguing the game and we've gotten absolutely zero feedback or indication that they even acknowledge the problem for years. I think they've genuinely given up on fixing it and just don't care to publicly admit it.

We deserve some type of acknowledgment of this issue and that it's going to be resolved. Why are you ignoring an issue that is crippling the communication inside the game for so many???????

Just chiming in. I haven't been able to get voice chat to work since I purchased Morrowind 2 weeks ago. Both my wife and I can't get it to work on 2 separate Xbox Ones.

Yep.....and they want us to now purchase Summerset without any acknowledgment of this issue and if it's even going to be fixed.

You guys know that yesterdays (xbox console update) fixed the game chat issue right? Last night i was able to switch from party to game chat with no issues. If your box didnt automatically update than check your updates and manually initiate the update. It seems like this was an xbox issue and not an ESO issue.

Yep....i figured it was an Xbox issue when it occurred a month or so ago....but it still broke this game's chat and there was zero communication from ZOS on the issue. It was very annoying.
