Why A Bow In Stamina DPS builds?

As the subject says, after looking at many stamina DPS builds, regardless of class, the majority of them are using a bow. Why is that?
Do I need it for ranged fights or is a gap-closer like in 1h+shield and 2h not of similar value?
Are the bow passives and buffs so much more desirable?
Any other reasons?
I can see that many dungeon fights need to be ranged, but that doesn't mean that my standard build needs to use a bow.

You need it for the Endless Hail DOT.

Most PVE DPS relies combining DOTs with single target attacks. So nearly every stam DPS build has endless hail, poison injection, and caltrops as DOTs, then you swap to DW or something else for the higher single target attacks.

If you have a magicka DPS build, most use Wall of Elements for the same thing. Effective PVE DPS combos constant DOT damage with single target attacks.

In other words, you can be a DD without a bow, but you are missing a huge chunk of your potential DPS by losing DOTs like Endless Hail and Poison Injection.

The dots are a huge portion of the stamina dps ...

Endless Hail is the most damaging stamina ability especially with vMA bow. There is no other skill close to it.

Of course you can play without bow and have respectable DPS with proper gear and rotation.

The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

Especially next patch, bow/bow warden dps is actually pretty solid.

It's the only way to do DPS ranged with stamina builds, simple as that.
You reveal yourself best in how you play.

    Kelces - Argonian Templar
Farel Donvu - Dark Elf Sorcerer
Navam Llervu - Dark Elf Dragonknight
    Aniseth - Wood Elf Warden
    Therediel - Wood Elf Templar
    Nilonwy - Wood Elf Nightblade
    Jurupari - Argonian Warden
    Kú-Chulainn - Argonian Sorcerer

It’s not just about range (though it is useful for that reason); it’s all about the DOTs, especially with a vMA bow. I use bow in melee range more than I do at a distance in PVE.

Well, DoTs are huge part for any toon, stam or mag; particularly AoE. Endless Hail, not only are DoTs, but also AoE; similarly as Razor Caltrops, Liquid L and Ele Blockade. I also use bow for the Poison Injection DoT, and for PvP, Lethal Arrows are what causing lots of peeps to be calling foul. Ha ha

Bow is definitely popular for stam toon, but for 15 different toons, you can't make them all DW/Bow or 2h/bow. You gotta have variety. I do have a couple DW dpsers or dd, but l mostly favor 2h. I have DW/bow, 2h/bow, DW/S&B, 2h/S&B, staff/S&B and of course, a couple pure staffs magsorcs and pure S&B tank.

It's all about variety. I'm even playing around with a 2h/DW stamsorc. It doesn't have the Endless Hail DoTs, but it still get plenty of DoTs, direct damage and AoE from the likes of Hurricane, Razor Cal, Rending Slashes, and supplement with Shrouded Dagger, it does plenty of dps and damages. Add extra DoTs from Liquid L (with buff from Power Surge).. l am quite liking this dps build. It's different and deadly.. and not a bow. Nothing wrong with a bow now.. Also, l get more of the DoTs, direct damage and AoE with the Brawler.. and you can't go wrong with them hard-hitting Dizzying Swings with the 2h side of the house.

Nightblades are going to be better, too, and still bow/bow NB has highest damage compared to other classes when they use bow/bow.
