Hybrid tank/dps?

I only have 6 characters and all are Nightblade DPS. That's all I like to play.

But there have been a few times when I thought it would be nice to have a tank so I've leveled a couple...and hated them. Mostly because the DPS is so low that I can only stand playing them when the group DPS is high. But what about a Tanky DPS? or a Deepsy Tank?

This would NOT be for vet DLC dungeons or trials but more for "I need to queue as tank but 4xDPS would probably suffice...but ZOS won't let me queue that way."

Class and gear recos?

I'm thinking S&B on front and DW on back but the times I've tried that on a tank build, the DPS was pathetic due to tank gear and attributes.

Sorcs and nightblades seem like right class for more dos output.

Is best set that comes to mind. There's also twin sister, habringer, hmm some sets in tempest. Alkoash would work too.

stamsorc has enough self healing from Critical Surge and Dark Deal to tank non DLC vet pledges in full dps medium armor sets.
i use hunding rage tfd and iceheart, backbar bow, to tank most pledge at ~18k health. i can reach ~20k single target dps on easier bosses.

Not sure about nightblades but two five piece sets, one offensive and one defensive works fine on my dk, hundings rage, plague doctor and bloodspawn, six heavy and a light belt for the undaunted buff. Thirty thousand health with tri glyphs and just put the sword and sheild taunt on the back bar. Cp uses a tank setup but in the blue tree I go for damage as my two handed main bar has better sustain than some other options

pierce armor on boss and big adds only. for trash mobs, i think it's more efficient to stack Caltrops, Endless Hail, Acid Spray and Hurricane to help clear them.
if i have to tag each trash mob with a single target spell, Poison Injection would probably be better than Pierce Armor.

Practically any class can be made or mix and match into a good hybrid dd tank. I have one in each class; although, l did delete the nb one, as self-healing was not really up to par compared to my hybrid DK, stamsorc, templar and even warden. With a nb, the only skills worth slotting as a tank are Swallow Souls, Refreshing Path and l like to slot the Piercing Mark. However, with your mag resources so much lower than a pure magblade, the Swallow and Path aren't really pulling in much juice; compared to Green Blood and Burning Ember for DK and Dark Deal for the sorc. Heck, you're still better off with Retribution and BoL with the Templar tank or that flower healing and Healing Thicket of the Warden. Ehh, at the end of the day, the hybrid nb tank didn't do it for me.

in PUGs such tanks can be treated as a fake tanks. You can get kicked ) Second problem is too much attention from healer, especially if your health jumping like crazy. He will probably start using burst heals like BoL and it's not good.

Anyway, imo the best solution is Sorc, many options here:
- pet sorc (Clannfear ofcuz);
- shield stacking sorc;
- stam sorc;
- self-heal sorc

I saw magsorc dd who (just for lulz) facetanked fire waves from vet Blessed Crucible last boss just by stacking shields...

I have a Nord DK I want to start levelling again and would like to play him with a Tank / DPS build, mainly will be with PUGs in normal dungeons if I enjoy it.

What is the recommended approach for this? A stamina build with DW/2H/Bow on one bar with S&B the other, or a Magicka build with Destro staff & S&B? What are the strengths and weaknesses of both?
