[I don't want to just play another TES game though. I do like the social and MMO aspect of ESO very much. Like trading, grouping up and chatting with new people is interesting and fun and very welcome. I'd just like that little addition for us who are more invested in the questing and storyline than others
To the OP. OK. You asked for people's opinions so here it goes. I think it's creepy that now-a-days people want to play an MMO as a single player or lan multiplayer game.
If you're looking to roleplay and pretend you and/or you and your friends are really heroes in a real breathing world, why not wait until the rush is over and then play?
What you are asking for is DDO with a TES setting and the amount of time it would take to code that is impossible at this point. It's not easy to do.
I feel your pain, but on line games aren't MMORPGS anymore, they're MMOs. I've played tons of MMOs in which groups of people have found a way to roleplay with millions of players, and I'm sure you can figure that out as well.
I enjoy playing with other people, and seeing other people playing, Obviously millions of people agree, or on line games would have morphed to this years ago.
As far as looking for a counter argument, there doesn't need to be one. You're not a dev and your opinion counts as less as the rest of ours do.

But what you're effectively asking for is an instanced world where you only come across other people in the main cities. That isn't very massively multiplayer in most people's eyes.
Fair enough. I'd like to hear more about why they like it / are content with it though instead of being told that It's an MMO and that I should deal with it.

I dunno that there is a why most the time though. Asking me why I like seeing other players in my world most the time would be the same as asking me why I like apples. It's just a preference and I don't know that I really have a reason for it beyond just knowing that it makes me happier.
If they had a way to give you what you want, without changing what I have come to know and love of MMOs by making the large majority of my content instanced, then have at it. Phasing certainly has come a long way, but everything I've seen so far seems to be everyone or no one.

I just wanted to know what peoples preferences are. You say that you like it, good. It's good that you said so and you don't have to say a why if you don't have any special reason for liking it. But you have to agree that it makes for a much better discussion in a forum than " GO PLAY SKYRIM", right?

I suppose, but your posts don't really come off as just wanting opinions for the most part. It more comes off as wanting someone to convince you why there way is better, and if they can't offer that then obviously your way is better. Maybe I'm just sleepy, I have been up all night and am sort of getting to a loopy stage.

I personally hate seeing people inside instanced areas while questing. I'll be exploring some long lost ruin or an abandoned house and there is rush hour traffic in there with many people killing all the mobs you are on a quest to kill and they are doing the exact same things you are. I think the game has great potential for roleplay and for me It kills any immersion or investment into the character and the story of the quests. It also makes things forced to be lot easier for those who like giving themselves a challenge by soloing. I suppose I would be okay with the odd adventurer or two very rarely, but I would prefer to be alone. For those saying that the player count will diminish over time and that this problem will solve itself, I don't really buy into it. I still think it would be too much.
Give me my own seperate instance of whatever house or cave I might be in to complete my quest. Maybe this could even be extended outside to small encampents. They could do some good things with their phasing systems here.
If you want help from someone to enter the same instanced dungeon or cave / room as you, simply seek them out and invite them to the group! this makes for much more engaging cooperative play aswell rather than hitting quest mobs with random passerbys.
As someone said in the comments that this should be a player option whether or not they wish to see people in closed areas/quest areas, I completely agree. One way or another should not be forced, it should be optional.
I'd like peoples opinion on this. Does this matter to you? Can you think of anything positive to this? Do you agree with my post? Also, does anyone know whether or not Zenimax plans to change any of this? Thanks for reading.
EDIT: I've decided to edit and rephrase my post to seem less forcing and absolute. I don't want to force my opinion or any playstyle upon others. It's merely a suggestion to improving an already good game to the best that it can be.
People also seem to love to say to " Go back to Skyrim" , " ESO is mainly an MMO" and " It's an MMO, what do you expect? " To those people I say that is no reason for NOT implementing this suggestion. It doesn't have to be that way.
Another good point that was raised is " MMO's are meant to be about meeting other players and interacting socially" To which I agree with. But I already think ESO has plenty of this with public dungeons, PvP, Crafting & trading, and guilds. Nothing stops players from talking to eachother to form and group and questing together, either.
