Khajiits and Argonians don't have to wear boots, shoes, or even sandals!

Seriously. Khajiits and Argonians are Betmer. Beastmen. They don't need any footwear. Because of their animal nature, the need to feel the ground under their soles, their clawed toes...... They must be barefoot.

Khajiits are tradtionally and culturaly a barefoot race. They live and travel all around barefoot. You should respect that. Thanks to their typical and traditional outfits available in the crown shop to give the proof of my words. It'sbarefoot outfits, with just a decorative thin strip around the ankle or between the toes.
Of course, sometimes, they have footwraps too, but their toes are always naked.
What about fighting? Going barefoot to the battle? Why not... ? We are felines. We are souple, flexible, and agile! We practice MARTIAL ARTS! (It's a part of the Khajiit education) Being barefoot is an advantage for dodging and evading (It's exactly why we are better in medium armor). Having naked feet is a strenght for us!
If you're scared to be barefoot, you have the possibility to wear traditionals khajiits feet armor : an armor plate to protect the top of your feet, heel and toes remain naked. You can put these open protections to your feet and remove it quickly. It's more practical than heavy closed boots.
Really, a Khajiit must be barefoot. They don't have to wear boots, shoes, or even sandals!

For Argonians, it's slightly different. Apparently, despite their scaly soles, they wear traditionally sandals. Even their warriors. No closed boot, but sandals. Another proof beastmen don't need heavy closed protection to go in the battle!
But personally, I think Argonians are culturaly a barefoot race too. Using sandals in swamp, bog, or a marsh full of mud and stink-water is not easy. It's why I think they prefer being barefoot. Outside their country, they could have sandals of course, but after living in a swamp, Argonians probably don't care how the ground can be dirty. So, being barefoot is not a problem for them.

But the fact is : Khajiits and Argonians don't need closed boots!

Why are you creating an Argonian or a Khajiit character? Because you like original and lovely animal races. So, you like animal parts of their bodies. In that case, why hidding their feet and their clawed toes into closed boots? Seriously? This doesn't make sense.

All my khajiits characters have naked legs (Mazzatun pants) AND naked feet. And trust me, I'm a solo player, and for solo contents of the game (stories, quests, etc) you can play with a barefoot character, even against world bosses. It's not a problem.

So, what do you think about it, Khajiits and Argonians lovers?

    Supple, not souple.

And so, just put on the prisoner rags sandal that is barely more than a flip flop.

I normally use open boots on my khajiit and argonian characters, they are not afraid to show their claws, even those do not provide an advantage like they did in TES games in ESO. A similar problem is with my spiked-headed argonian with helmets - his lovely spikes are just disappearing with a helmet, so I always have to hide it.

You are worried about their shoes while I am wondering how they have no beast legs in eso, beast legs in Morrowind and no beast legs in Skyrim.

where are the sources for all the claims in the OP?

edit-nvm I see that they're opinions. Anyway no thanks. Not every khajiit/argonian is born or grows up in khajiit/argonian culture, even if the barefoot thing were canon.

    Stop foot shaming them!!!!!
Maybe they've got an ingrown claw, or some sort of fungal infection or maybe they've got a & they're trying not to spread it to others.

In Morrowind, beast races couldn't wear helmets or boots, but their feet were also far more beast-like than in Skyrim or ESO.

That's all I got. In ESO, having the claws exposed is a matter of personal preference.

Different subspecies, at least in the khajiit's case. Cathay (which we play in skyrim and eso) have plantigrade (human like) legs, while suthay (morrowind's khajiit) have digitigrade (animal like) legs.

For other subspecies, ohmes have plantigrade and dagi have digitigrade legs. Obviously alfiq, senche, and pahmar khajiit are all quadrupeds and have digitigrade legs.

In the other games their feet/legs/bodies aren't like the way they are in Morrowind, so it doesn't seem that khajiit and argonians are "traditionally and culturally barefoot races." It seems like it's best to interpret that the races neither traditionally barefoot nor traditionally not barefoot, in that the people in each culture do both.

Yes, lorewise they shouldn't wear shoes and helms but remove it and all the players who play khajit or Argonian will rebel. They will loose 2 set bonus.

When you have clawed feet, with an animal nature, you need to be barefoot. With claws, it's more easier to walk barefoot. And yes, personal opinion, but based on some "reality of the lore" and logic.

But I think it's an interesting discussion.

OP, it is just your opinion. If you want your Khajiit to be barefoot, or your Argonian to be completely naked, it's just your business. Why discuss this at all?
I don't want my Khajiit to be barefoot. Especially when he travels to cold Eastmarch or wet Shadowfen. The new Outfit systems gives me excellent opportunity to dress my characters depending on climate of the area they travel.

Rank 1 and 2 Light Khajiit Shoes and Gloves. They're cloth wrappings with open toes and fingers. Both my girls wear them in their outfits, for exactly the reason you claim.
