Personally, I just leveled several alts in their professions. The most effective (but most expensive) to level crafting quickly is just to buy a ton of intricate stuff and decon it. The next method is to farm a bunch of gear and decon it. I did that during the ESO+ trial by farming chests and deconing the gear until about level 45 in the craft and then finishing with intricate gear. It took a lot of regular gear, just be prepared.

I believe the item has to be gold before you can get a gold mat from deconstruction. You will never get gold mats from deconstructing white/green/blue/purple gear.
You can get gold mats from refining raw material. But as you noted, the IP is just terrible. Not worth the switching of a character.

For refinement, you need to get the passive that grants a greater chance of higher mats. While you don't need to be lvl 50, it's still in the 30's before you have the 3 points into that passive. Which will probably be longer than 5 hours to receive.

I've found it easiest to have my main as the main crafter. It's easier just to farm the extra skyshards/skill points than spliting the crafting work over multiple characters.

I appreciate the answers, but i dont think any of you really understood my question. I wasn't asking about the best way to level up the proffesions, nor about how to get gold mats, I know that already.

I just said I wanted to level those proffesions on an alt char so I can have a chance of getting gold mats as a reward for the daily writs. I already have my main as crafter, but I basically want another source of income. I wanna use this char solely for completing daily writs, nothing more.

So basically, I wanna level Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Clothing on a char who's currently level 3. I was planning on levling those proffesion up with useless CP160 gear, but that doesn't work because the IP I get from deconing a CP160 item is really low.

I just wanna know if that's because of my general level being too low, or my level in those proffesions is too low.
I do know I have to level up for Skillpoints anyway, but I wasn't planning on grinding to level 50.

Its just low IP period, though the CP passive for inspiration helps. I leveled up several characters with CP 160 intricates and regular CP 160, like I tried to tell you. The first 10 levels in the profession go pretty quick and after that it takes a lot of gear, intricate or not. I mean, I'm talking several hundred pieces of gear IIRC.

    Its just low IP period

But according to guides like this
      http://sunshine-daydream.us/ESO/blacksmithing.html#Bleveling

I should get ~20k IP from deconing a CP160 item, if I understood correctly. It just doesn't make sense to me why I get more IP from deconing a lvl 20 item vs deconing a CP160 item. Guess that's ZOS way of preventing powerleveling these proffesions.

Did you get more IP from your CP160 items when you leveled e.g. Blacksmithing up and put points into it? I currently get less than 1k IP, which is a *** joke.

The IP just like all other exp scales base on level, this case is for the craft level. You can try walking the level up by making some green items about 5 levels higher than your alt craft level. Or even look on the Traders for mid level intricate items. then hit the high level intricate after you get closer to level 20 crafting.

You also get better writ rewards with the more crafting achievements for that craft they alt has. You will need to buy or use the purple books for ancient elf, daedric, barbaric.. etc so this means being able to do up to rank 10 items. I would also knock out the cheapest complete motif sets you can get.

Really for it to be worth it the alt needs to get master level in the craft as you can see by my recommendations. Some others may disagree but this is my opinion and what I have seen work for me.

By writ rewards you mean the stuff I get from the master writs, or the daily writs? I do know that I have to level the crafting skills up in order to receive good items from daily writs.

Anyway, thanks so far guys. You've been a great help. (:

Talking about the daily craft writ rewards. An to do master writs you have to level the craft to 50 anyway. I personally only do master writs on one character since the vouchers do not pool on the account. But I do get them to craft 50 as it gets better returns and I want the extra master writs.

If you want low level materials best to buy them and sell some of the high level materials to fund. Economically it's better. I also do hirelings that bets you a daily steady stream of stuff and the occasional gold materiel. Ads up since I run 13 characters with three exp on hirelings.

There is plenty of skill points available to do crafting and combat on all characters. No need to have an alt specific to the task. I have one master crafter who learns all recipes, prints, motifs, etc. The rest only learn a bit and cheaper purple motifs( for master writs). But they can all do combat as well as craft,.

Did you just say you get gold mats from your daily hireling? I have never received a gold mat from my hireling. What do you do, to get a chance for gold mats??

I leveled 4 of my alts to crafting lvl 50 just by playing the game with my mains, and putting into the bank 100% of any gear looted, for my alts to deconstruct. This probably took longer than 5 hours, but since is was kinda a passive thing, it didn't seem so bad. If you have enough inventory space and can go 100-200 pcs of gear at a time.. (And the personnel banker)

At some point I became overwhelmed with Master Writs, that I didn't bother leveling up the passives on my remaining characters. (They only make lvl 1 gear for the dailies) Same rewards except no chance for a Master Writ. (Maybe my chance for gold mats isn't as great?? But I defiantly do get gold mats from turning in my daily lvl 1 writs.)

I don't know know if this is true or in my head, but I've heard it thrown around that writ drop rate can be affected by total achievement score. Probably not true but perhaps there is something similar going on--i certainly get larger value writs and more of them on the two characters I play most frequently.

So that would be a reason in favor of getting the character to 50.

Overwhelmed? Let me take the stress off of you. Waves hand like a jedi. Send me your master writs. Waves hand again. You dont need them anymore.

Highlighted part of quote that I am responding to.

Just to let you know, That you can move your vouchers to your bank so that they 'pool' and then withdraw them on any of your characters to spend them.
