I actually think it's fun. It's like a mini-game for me at work. I have the forums up on one of my monitors at work, and ask a lot of questions on here and converse with other players. It's like having something to work for while enjoying the forums.

You earn stars based on the amount of points you have. Points are earned through Badges and Reactions (Insightfuls, Agrees, and Awesomes).

I've found there's not much point to chasing reactions. They come naturally if you post on the things you know about, opinions you care about, and help people when you can.

has there ever been a point where you crafted a post in order to illicit a specific response from others - just to see if you could?

initially I had very few agrees in my feedback...i remember for a while seeing how i could craft a response to which others would agree...

wow, reading back what I just wrote above is now making me question my sanity and self worth...

i'm gonna chalk it to just being weird...

Honestly I think I remember asking others what they thought of it and if they cared. It reminds me of the stars kids would get back in my youth for being good or whatever. In some aspects it reinforces some quality sorts, others I dunno maybe elitism or something?

LOL I remember those stars. We got them for turning in classwork with no errors. (What we got for turning it in with too many errors was "six of the best" i.e a leather strap 6 times on the hands.) I used to peel any stars I got off at once cos the other kids would beat up anyone they thought "teacher's pet" I don't imagine that's changed much.

Wouldn't you rather spend your time more productively?

Or only post unless you want to, to give an answer or ask something if you're curious?

Yeah, sure I have. Thing is, I've generally found that those posts weren't actually very effective at farming reactions, not compared to the ones where I was posting my honest opinions, trying to help people, or just talking about my experiences with aspects of the game I like or don't like.

I guess what I'm saying is that I've found posting to get reactions is less effective for me than just posting naturally.

Well @Wrecking_Blow_Spam I just happen to notice things, I find it intriguing.

As far as being productive, I browse the forums while I'm working since I have multiple monitors. Pretty easy for me to multitask while working/being productive.

i think you may take your ability to so easily communicate with others a bit for granted...

yourself, rohamad, santie, a few others display a remarkable ability to communicate so easily with strangers...

it's amazing how some folks here are able to comprehend the thoughts (which may not be organized so lucidly) of others, and, to express ideas to which so many other people can easily relate to...

it's really not that simple a thing...

for many of us - it's a bit of a science experiment

Okay, so I gather that posting this with the title "I am curious" was not a good idea as it could have multiple meanings?

When I post things, I tend to do so in the way that myself and co-workers email each other. In the subject line, we generally put the first three or four words of what we are going to say/ask, then type the rest of what we are saying into the body of the email. Emailing like this has become habit, and I do this sometimes when I create posts.

That is what I did here, not trying to get reactions by a misleading title.
