Sorcerer pets

Some people don't use Twilite. What do the Sorcs here recommend?
  • Carcharodontosaurus
In place of twilight matriarch, I usually use dark exchange. Since the main purpose of twilight seems to be really just for the heal, at least that's what it seems like to me. I use dark exchange to get a heal and magicka back, instead of losing magicka for a heal

Just having the twilight slotted and summoned, without activating the skill, does 2.5k dps in my parses. Slightly beats bound aegis. Plus a nice burst heal for the group if needed

As a sorc who runs 0 pets and pulls a decent 20k single target dps, I suggest dumping the scamp, the twilight, the mutant dinosaur chicken thing, and slotting surge. It's all the healing you'll ever need, plus your pets will no longer *** off people trying to use wayshrines lel
You just going to stand there like a lemon?

You will need a heal so its ..twilight , dark exchange, or crit surge. I use twilight.

Really depends on what you are trying to go for. I use both pets with a double heavy attack rotation and pretty much keep full magic, unless I need to keep replacing my dots in a mobile fight. I do around 40-41k on live servers. And I'm doing 45-46k on the pts right now. 3mil and 6mil dps is the same. Obviously though, yes, pets suck in trials lol

Edit: scamp as second pet, not clanfear

I mainly use both scamp and twilight. If I am going to be fighting some lower level trash mobs for a bit, such as in a delve or doing overland content, I will swap the twilight for mage light.

I have 2 sorcerers..one with pets and one pet-less. The play styles are different IMO.

Yeah the playstyles are very different. Mainly in sustain, because you need to use spammable skills such as force pulse to pull high dps, instead of being able to heavy attack

Depends what you want it for..

    I use twilight in PVP for anti-shieldbreaker heals/necropotence bonus/ los/ etc.

For PVE - been a while, but I used to solo dungeons with surge as my only heal (and scamp for damage).

In a group - with a dedicated healer, I don't see why you would need your own burst heal.
    Minalan owes me a beer.

Well like I said earlier, the burst heal is just there anyway. Nice to have in case it is needed. But main point of twilight is to give more dps. Its actually a dps loss in a lot of cases to cast the tormentor morph. So why not use the healing morph. Just having the twilight summoned does 2.5k in my parses

The scamp does a lot more damage than the matriarch. AOE too. So if you don't need the heals - why not go for more damage? It's 2 slots - so you really want to get the most out of them.

Twilight has extremly bad AI and ZOs refuses to fix it. Often it got struck, one shotted by boss/mobs and difficult to handle. Its unreliable on difficult situations. Also respawning once it died is a nightmare in middle of fight.

Oh I thought I mentioned that I use both pets. Scamp and twilight. I parse 45k on the 3 and 6 mil dummy. And regularly get 55-65k dps on vet dungeon bosses because the fight only lasts 30-40 seconds. Good enough for me. It personally my favorite toon to play with. And having that heal there from the twilight is amazing in case the healer goes down, or end up in a pug group where healer isnt up to par.

Also forgot to mention that a common theme has been to double bar scamp and double bar bound eagis. Basically I'm replacing aegis because the twilight makes my overall dps higher. It has nothing to do with the heal. The heal is just awesome to have as an oh crap button. And you dont have to sacrifice anything to have it. It's just there. Twilight does 2.5k dps just being summoned as I mentioned
