LFG has been a tool for how many years? Why is it still broken?

So, story time I guess. I was running vet crucible a few nights ago when it was the pledge.

We were doing fine, except for a few times when the tank seemed to lose threat. But we had good heals, and aside from a few random wipes, it didn't seem too odd. I did notice that our tank seemed to be a caster and not sword/board, but I know that not every tank format uses sword/board so I didn't mind too much.

We get to the last boss. The tank keeps getting two-shotted and can't get healed in time, and we wipe after the rest of us get one-shotted. After the 4th wipe or so, I actually check the party info. We never had a tank in the first place. It was just a third dps generating the most damage, blocking a lot of hits.

To be clear, there were 3 people listed as dps and one listed as a healer. The grouping tool simply didn't give us a tank.

I mention it in chat, that we don't actually have a tank among us, according to lfg. I follow-up by asking if one of the other 2 dps have tank sets they can use, as we really just need someone to absorb the big hits and the toon I'm playing on has no tank gear or tank passives. I immediately get kicked. Wut?

I start talking to them in tells, only to realize that they were all guildies grouped together. I was the obvious choice to kick, even without discussion. I promptly cursed them out and logged off of course, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.

I do blame them for immediately kicking me on the last boss instead of trying to find a way around the problem, and frankly I hope they never found a replacement, but the root cause of the problem is ZoS' broken grouping tool. Has anyone else had this sort of issue happen?

Because people use it. People who have an agenda that's not the same as yours.

Is it possible that one of these 3 guildies queued as a tank, then changed his role to dps once inside? It seems more likely than the group finder not putting a tank in the group. I'm just putting it out there as a possibility.

But is the tool actually reactive like that? I assumed that it only flagged you as a role based on the initial entry into the dungeon. If it updates in real time based on what gear you're wearing, that would make more sense, but I didn't think that was the case.

Ahh.. I guess it's the same question relatively to PvP.. it has been out for many years, but why still it is so broken.

As far as I know, you can change your roles around once the queue has placed you in the dungeon. You can queue as all 3 roles then very quickly before anyone notices, just change to dps. If anyone looks at the group menu, they will see 3 dps and a healer in the group. It might look as though the group finder failed to find a tank, but it could just be a shady player fake tank queueing then changing it to cover his tracks. I'm not saying for sure this is what happened. It's just a very possible situation, especially if the 3 others knew each other.

Yeah, that certainly sounds possible. I just don't get the logic then though; they knew they weren't gonna get a tank then, how did they expect it to end? That just seems incredibly shortsighted if none of them were confident they could survive hits from the last boss. Maybe they just didn't think that far ahead. Sigh.

Yes, it updates in real time. I have my group bars colored by role so I know who is who (Red = Tank, Green = DPS, Blue = Healer). Since me and my friend queue as BOTH DPS and TANK, both our party bars are "Red". Once we get in, whoever isn't the tank removes the tank role in the group menu and their group bar goes back to green.

I fail to see how the grouping tool is broken.... I don't think it's white-knighting to point out that this is a player-problem... The groupfinder cannot read people's minds when they Q-up as all three roles... Is it possible to only Q as one role?? Would this help or would people still lie??
To be clear I think you were told a falsehood or a partial truth...

Why? that is not have the one of you with highest dps queue as DD?
Had the issue with players queued as healer+dd, thought they got in as healer and we had two healers on first trash.
One refused to go DD and my templar don't had DD gear had to DD, worse in that he was an bad healer.
Probably an worse dps and afraid getting kicked.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It's not broken, it was abused. RDF can't compensate for people being liars, incompetent, or incompetent liars.

You can change role after the group is formed. If someone's health bar doesn't show up in group frames, cycling role will update it - only reason I know this.
