Summerset Crown Store Monster Styles

finalsoldier117
With the release of Summerset comes styles from certain dungeons (White Gold Tower, Crypt of Hearts 1, Banished Cells 1) The monster helm and shoulders can be unlocked by completing the dungeon but the weapons are locked behind a pay wall. I think this is a poor decision for multiple reasons.
1. Already so many things locked behind the crown store paywall (Seasonal Motifs, Costumes, Houses, Personalities)
2. It could add insentive for players to complete challenges in the veteran dungeon achievements if this stuff was instead offered as a reward for completing challenges like death, slayer, survivor, and speed
3. Help revitalize dungeon finder for dungeons other than just the dailies, and bring back some veteran players into the older dungeons

Please comments your thoughts on this topic and any other ideas you may have to bring these items out of the crown store

There have been countless threads over the years wanting them to be unlocks.

But sadly i fear its only gonna get worse.

Listen and love your players back eso!

Everything in the store should be somehow obtainable in-game; if nothing else, most of the mounts/pets/costumes could be tossed in as "complete X quests in Y zone" achievement rewards.
I'm also in favor of all in-game cosmetic items being available in the store, but everyone gets mad when you flip it around to be "fair" for everyone on both sides of the fence, so that's a conversation for another thread.
"I haven't really played much yet, but lemme tell you all about how the game should include X and be a lot more like Y!" - Half the posters on this forum.
"I've been here for years, and lemme tell you all about how they should never change or evolve Z, because then the game would be ruined forever." - The other half of posters on this forum.

I would definitely like to see the weapons be available as rare drops in the dungeons. I would farm the *** out of some dungeons to get those even if you had to run 100++ times to get them. That said, Zeni having money gets us fun content and these will net a lot of money. The helm/shoulders will see a lot of use anyways I'm sure. I see Kena, Engine, BS shoulders, Zaan, and Skoria as all being popular.

I think an ideal solution for Zeni would be to make them VERY rare in dungeons and/or drop as "pages" that way they would still make a good deal of money in the crown store AND revitalize older content.

The greed is actually horrific. Is there a point where they feel greed becomes embarrassing ? They could easily set challenges in the same vein as Worm Wizard or the tattoo set from from the dragon bones dungeons to encourage players to go back through older vet content.

You'd have thought the Pyondonian motif backlash would have been enough for them to rethink their approach to how they use the crown store but evidently not and so they continue to treat players with utter contempt.

I'm buying Summerset because I've always played a high elf and want to experience the environment but every other area I could take it or leave it tbh, so post Summerset I can see myself cancelling my sub in protest at the shameless price gouging and horrifically non-consumer friendly marketing practises they have been participating in. There clearly is no desire to change by ZOS so maybe losing subscribers will be the shock they need.

Last thing, loyalty is a difficult thing to build in consumers and it needs to be fostered and valued. ZOS have done nothing to build any loyalty with players, players are here because the Elder Scrolls brand is. I highly doubt ZOS could launch a new IP using these same practises and attract the same players. As things stand I grudge the sub leaving my account each month.

TBH if its a choice for cosmetic items of between gated behind a pay wall and gated behind elite level content that only 10% of the player based can achive, I'd rather have the former.

Yep, but gated behind a pay wall that RNG means only 10% of players will achieve? I'd rather not have that either.

It's also a lot easier to put it in the Crown Store. Us suckers still buy it so why not? ESO is all cosmetic items now and that is brilliant for them.

As a Dev, would you rather design a whole new system or shade a Senche purple and rename it?

Anything that is cool on ESO you should now expect to cost money. They aren't really selling as many game copies as they were so this is the way of bringing in money. Pretty simple.

NEITHER, because the cosmetics team, apparently, hates the color purple. It's been years, and we've gotten all of four purple things: some lipsticks, one funky skin, a pixie-pet, and a datamined horse.

Still, though, I get your actual point and completely agree. This is easy for them, which is why they're trying to milk it as much as possible.

PTS has it as direct purchase.

I covered both of these opinions in the post, it should be RNG it should be rewards for doing the challenges amd as for them having to make money there are already so many ways they do that on the crown store (houses, seasonal motifs, pets, mounts, crown crates, and there biggest ESO plus) I have no issue with them making money its a matter of when they have made enough and when they start rewarding players.

I agree very strongly with this in particular. I play High Elf too (apparently most of us do) but I still haven't pre-ordered and I'm not sure if I will any time soon tbh.
