Gear level cap increase any time soon ?

I'm not far off golding out a new set of gear for one of my alts, but if we get a level cap increase shortly afterwards, I may just have a bloody stroke, and then whimper pathetically in a corner :#

Has the rumour mill been churning at all ?

There will be no more gear cap increases as of One Tamriel. Explanation why here. Gear cap increases are simply not possible in a game with scaling.

They know they would lose players if they were forced to farm all of their BiS gear a second time.

Some progression other than 30cp a quarter. I would love it. Even if I had to farm it again. It only been what 2 years?

Atleast not with the way scaling is done here.

If they are so stupid, and increase the gear cap they will lose me as a paying customer. And manny manny more. The rate they give out new content. The game have no need for that,it will only destroy their customer population big time.

I did the same just before the vet16 announcement. Then, as a v15 player wearing v14 gear doing a v16 dungeon, finally got the monster helm I'd been trying to get for almost a year.....I didn't know whether to be happy or sad looking at that v15 helm in my inventory.

Yes...Long story short. A gear cap increase will break the game. Scaling prevents that.

You want to "simulate" a gear cap increase of cp30? Go craft CP130 gear and then go try and run a dungeon. Let me know how that works out for you.

A gear cap increase with no available means to upgrade former gear would cause this game to implode. No way I am farming VMA/trial/dungeon weapons again.

    I hope not
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

No. They have gone too long without increasing the cap to do it now without allowing capped players to upgrade (rather than recraft / refarm ) all their gear. Introducing yet another tier of crafting materials would require massive changes to multiple game systems, too.

What they could do with probably less overhead and minimal outcry is unlock higher upgrade tiers (i.e., going above Legendary quality), as mentioned in a thread linked above. Now that all gear is going to be upgradable, I would not be surprised if they went in that direction at some point.
AD is the best looking faction. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

When someone can explain how raising the gear cap in a scaled game makes the game better, then we have something to talk about.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

That wouldn't be progression though because of scaling. You would need to farm everything all over again to get back on par with a lvl 10 player in lvl 10 gear. A gear cap increase now only has the possibility to a) make the game more hostile to new players that need farther to catch up in CP, and b) trash the progress of all your veteran players. Only a developer who wanted to kill their game would decide to *** off old and new players alike.

    Yeah, that...

Who knows, maybe someday they will redo their entire gear system, and adjust it to the scaled game... no more gear ranks, just "basic gear" and some slight improvements through crafting materials instead... so for example rank 1 crafting materials gave base stats, rank 2 materials +2%, rank 3 materials +4%, rank 4 materials +6%, rank 5 materials +8%, rank 6 materials... you get the idea, right? Possibly better materials also providing more durability then cheap ones... but all "material ranks" still staying within shouting distance of each other (as battle levelling basically already enforces, just making it official then)...

I mean, I never felt it a good idea to have a suit of armor that a character cannot yet use due to "level". I mean, how? How could it be that a warrior can use a iron chainmail, but somehow can't don the same chainmail if made from mythril? That would make no sense, right? I mean, a hobbit on their first adventure can don a mythril shirt if someone gave them one, right? Right? ;)

Well bad for You because they said that gear cap increase will eventually happen and they said that after One Tamriel was implemented to the game.
