Dolmens. Why even quest?

A dolmen in Alik'r Desert is done in a bit over a minute while providing 2.5k exp and a chest.
There are an incredible amount of quests in the game that take around 5-7 minutes to finish and provide below 1k exp plus 1 item.
Why would you waste your time?

Why not run on a treadmill every day? Because parks and trails are more pleasant, when the weather permits. Most runners do both the treadmill and scenic runs depending on the mood and how much time you have.

Almost every quest IS the same thing over and over again.
Skyshards are the same old thing over and over.
Lorebooks are the same old thing over and over.
Farming gear in dungeons is the same thing over and over when you have to run it 30times to get 5 peices you need.

Every part of progression in this game is the same old thing over and over, its a grinding game. Saying because its the same thing over and over isn't a strong argument.

Questing isn't good for leveling really, it's there if you enjoy the stories or the dyes you get. If you only care about leveling then don't fret about it, you can skip it!

    1. Questing gives you something to do whilst you farm out those skyshards and lore books. It gives you skill points you would have otherwise missed, and it unlocks areas that give you access to some lore books that are hidden behind the quest wall.
    2. Dolmens are monotonous and grinding. You learn nothing about your build.
    3. Random normals are better all round for levelling as you get XP, you learn mechanics, you learn your build, and you get a massive boost from the quest + purple xp.

As Riptide said, as a runner, If I am just going for a run, ill go and hit the mountain trails near my house, however if I am already in the gym I may as well just go for a few kilometers on the treadmill or football oval next door as a warm up or cool down.

Its gets tedious when its your 3rd 4th 5th or 20th character, I dont even quest, I'll dolmen grind, then go back to each zone and collect the shards and/or books if its a mag char, if its stam I dont bother collecting the books

Because you will need the skill points people get too hung up on cp and level in the development of their characters. A truly finished character will need class skills and passives. At least 2 weapon lines. Some pvp skills. Undaunted. Mages and fighters guilds ledgermain. And if you want a fully trained 9 trait crafter you will need considerably more skills than you will get from just leveling.

When you're leveling your character, dolmens are also a good source for armor, weapons, glyphs and jewelry. What you can't wear, you can deconstruct to level up crafting.

If you already ran the quests once, then maybe only for skillpoints. After running Cadwells on several toons, I now use Skyreach and xp potions. Then Dungeons and minimal quests to get the skill points I need. I believe skill points should be shared account wide. If a player enjoys playing, they will play the game. Forcing grind or forcing playstyles doesn't keep players in the game.

Pretty sure it'd a troll post.

Dolmens are a waste of time. Grinding XP to get to some end game rushing past all the decent content in the game then complaining there isn't enough end game.

Levelling is crazy fast as it is. Just play the game as intended and enjoy it.

I like using dolmen grinding to get a new character's level up, and getting their morphs / skill lines / armor leveled up as well.

Sometimes I don't feel like leveling weapon skill lines naturally when I'm mid game, and just decided on altering my build.

Dolmens are incredibly inefficient for grinding levels. They're just the easiest method.

And you'll quest for the story, obviously. But if you're leveling up an alt, why would you do all the quests again? It's repetitive.

The alik'r dolmen zergs don't give much xp compared to the less populated ones, 4-8 players and not grouped or 2 man groups is pretty perfect, you get almost all mobs tagged.

Random normal dungeons tend to give close to an level even without buffs. over an level with quest.
Its my preferred way to level alts.
Doing dolmens and delves the first time also give lots of xp and skill points.

Grinding just make you go in circles.

a couple of hours? it takes that long for you?

are you misunderstanding that statement as a claim that a single dolmen takes hours? you missed the point.

dolmens are too easy, and therefore boring. plus, if you're contrasting them with questing, you get infinitely less skill points, in the literal sense.

if it's fun for you to stack only some of the least combat-useful of numbers in repitition by themselves, then by all means, have a ball. it seems to me that this game is part of a franchise known for its questing and the resultant storytelling, and there are probably other franchises that put more focus on achieving simply (x+1) but if dolmens are your own personal endgame you'll still have tons of company here.

and a Ring of Diagna probably goes for 51 gold on the open market. i just can't see an interesting angle to approach the dolmen-grind from. but it's great you're finding joy in something so simple. i'm kinda jealous. just, if it does eventually feel old, don't tell outsiders it's the whole game.

Dolmens is nice if you want to level lots of new skills like, tanking or switching between magic and stamina as you can level up both bars fast without any skill, yes this can be done with back bar on cashing in quests but is slower.

Incidentally, just by questing alone, with ONLY ESO+ enabled, you will hit level 50 in around two and a half zones, plus you will have an extra 10/15 skillpoints over just getting the skyshards alone.

Personally, I love questing and refuse to grind stuff with groups of other people. If I do a dolmen, I want it to myself. Though how thats going to go with my latest char in Alik'r, I don't know.

I always just do such a random mix of stuff I can’t grind any one thing for more than a few levels. But by far the best is random daily dungeons mixed with undaunted first time quests it’s just so much exp especially with scrolls, pots, training gear. You get a few friends to carry you and it’s a huge boost.
