Magplar Solo PvP ~ Magplar to Retire [VIDEO]

Hiho ~ Possibly my last magicka Templar video at least for a while. I am totally done with ZOS's unability to fix the class/type. Besides what I did or have done with a magicka templar in my last vids, there is nothing else that you can do, well... with an exception of being a heal/purge bot.

I swapped to Stamina a few days ago and am loving it, feels so fast paced and refreshing. Next vids are going to be Stamina based.

Not sure it will register. Too many happy to stand in a Zerg and spam heals with occasional RD. It will take ZOS being successful at making other classes competitive healers and taking the mantle

It won't, because console players have alot of magplar running around. Console has "joystick" mitigation where you can't easily aim certain abilities so builds that perform on PC don't have the same user friendliness on other platforms.
When I tried to do research for my magplar, all the magplar builds I found were from console and always overwhelming surge snb/DW oddly enough lol

You think? I was looking at it yesterday and wondering you could make a shock build templar. Doesn't seem like a lot of damage after battle spirit altho it is a big aoe.

My internet kept crapping out yesterday but for a bit I was trying riposte/spc/skoria. SPC buffs everything you do and you pretty much start every fight with the buff... but if the fight doesn't end in 10 seconds it's worthless. And on a magplar, not many fights end in 10 seconds!

Well, look at the other options that come in with arcane jewels:

Spinners - very slightly less damage on the 2-4 pieces 5% penetration is less damage than a concussion proc fromsurge gives, it doesn’t have a huge aoe reveal and doesn’t apply a DoT to someone. Also the bonus damage doesn’t work on shields

Maiden - worse 2-4 pc bonuses. 5pc bonus gives higher overall tooltips for damage abilities but not greater than a concussion proc will give and it’s less sustained damage than surge on pvp builds.

BSW - worse 2-4 pc. Much higher burst, similar levels of sustained damage, longer cooldown

Amber - same 2-4 as the others. Non-damage 5pc that allows you to sub either atro for apprentice or 2x regen glyphs for 2x spell damage glyphs while adding stam sustain. Probably a better overall set, but much less aggressive than surge.

I’m sure I missed some, but the brilliance of surge is that it helps you get off your defensive bar which is something magplar can struggle with. It also can proc concussion, has a decent DoT, and reveals all stealthed enemies within the proc range

Overwhelming currently indeed is the best set. Things will change with the new patch though... this is going to be a slaughterhouse. I got my set ready, but until then I will chill on my stamina Derplar.

It’s a simplistic gameplay style. When you’re put on defensive and surge procs: eclipse - go offensive.

Often times I will struggle with getting off my back foot as magplar, a very common problem with the class. However, with surge you start to apply pressure and can even proc Skoria while you’re block casting BoL.

I don’t know if it’s BiS, but imo it’s the best aggressive set in the game outside of maybe Acuity

Yeah for all the nerfs BOL has eaten I’ve always felt like once I’m spamming it, I’m delaying the inevitable. Was a bit better when you could run blazing shield without being a niche health stacker. Or major mending and sweeps actually hit to where being aggressive kept you up.

I only lasted 4 months on magplar before switching to stam. Tbh I did really like the class (in PvE also) but it just felt so sluggish and total dark was weird and seemed to be uncastable in some fights and I couldn’t get the burst down on some people, a lot of stalemate fights. Not to mention the lag of playing from Asia and trying to use toppling charge after meteor.

Its probably the hardest class combo to solo on with anyways. Like, getting jumped by a melee + ranged is a death sentence if no LOS around. However as interesting as it may be, same on a Stamplar isnt that much of an issue, you can dodge stuff, you can mitigate stuff by itself, you can actually BURST someone before they understand what just happened.

Dont worry though, we will receive some improvements in 2019.

Honestly, the fact is that as long as Magplar is so good in groups as a wall/support build I just can’t see ZoS giving them significant buffs.

I’m not saying that’s right or ok, but there’s so so many magplars out there that I’m certain when they look at numbers they see a healthy magplar population.

I think this means magplar needs some nerfs in the group utility aspect while some other classes need those aspects buffed. Then at least population numbers on magplar will go down and maybe they will do something.

Sad tbh.

Definitely. Magplar is a game changer in group. Sadly it is probably the worst class solo.

I love stamplar. To me, I like vigor more than BOL as I can proactively set it and go on the offensive. And I like roll dodging more than blocking or magicka shields so maybe it just fits me better.

I'm magplar for life!

Have been magplar since early 2015. Dabbled in stamplar a few times. It's fun. But feels like a ripoff of everything that magplar was supposed to be, but better at it...thanks zeni. Even still I refuse to leave magplar.

There are so many issues with the spec. But man it's satisfying when you get a whisper from you enemies exclaiming how awesome and WIERD it was to die to a magplar. Also the hatetells when you're able to withstand a group..."garbage heal tank!!!"

Anyway bro good luck, thanks for representing a dying spec. Wish there were more to take up the gauntlet and pain of magplar 1vX. Have fun on the stamina side!
