Crown "Best Value" Tag?

So, I'm not against crowns or the crown store. I just want that to be clear. I feel people should be responsible for their own financial decisions, and if they like crowns, crown store items, or even crates then that's thier choice. This isn't about what's contained in the Crown Store, it's about purchasing crowns on the website and how Zenimax should really change their "Best Value" tag.

This also only displays if you go through the 'Game' tab and then to the 'Buy Crowns' tab or the following address: http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/buycrowns

On this page the 21,000 Crowns goes for $149.99 and is labeled as 'Best Value'. But by doing some math, this is completely false.

21,000 Crowns for $149.99 is 140.009~ crowns per dollar.
14,000 Crowns for $99.99 is 140.014~ crowns per dollar.

Making the 14,000 crown pack the best value. As the number of crowns purchased decreases, the crown per dollar gets closer to 100 to 1. Personally, I feel the $39.99 pack is the best value, as its not $99.99 and you are only getting 2.5 crowns less per dollar. 5500 Crowns for $39.99 is 137.534~ crowns per dollar.

Just an observation. Unless that 21000 pack goes on sale, its definitely NOT the best value. I would recommend the tag be removed by Zenimax, but thats their decision. Hopefully no one takes them to court for it. XD

Lol how did you discover that? Instead of taking it down I would just change the pack so it lives up to its name.

Its a habit to break down the "gem/crown/fake monies" to dollar for me. I do it with most games that have these types of shops so I can try to at least get the best for my money. I've also been watching for a sale on crowns.

I do agree. I would love if they dropped the 21000 pack to say $119.99 or something. haha

I prefer "frugal"! haha But nerd is ok too...

"Best Value" is one of those marketing red flags you should look out for, this is actually on the very mild end of the 'not really best value' scale.

If you every see a 'Best Value' tag on an EA service or product.... RUN!

i don't know if i did the math right but if you do this for the price in Euro you get
    168.01 per euro for 21000(124.99euro)
    164.72 for 14000( 84.99euro)
157.18 for 5500( 34.99euro) so it is the best value....maybe not in all currencies

Supermarkets here often had 2 for x deals - one I saw recently which was £2.75 each or 2 for £7,
despite improving customer protects almost everywhere, it's still
    Caveat Emptor

so this is very mild but still people need to watch out

Interesting. Although since they have different sites for each region they could at least update it accordingly. Lazy business I guess.

A difference of 7-8 crowns between 34.99 and 84.99 euros still would make me buy the 34.99 unless I wanted something that was more expensive than 5500 euros.

Very true. Well sometimes. Sometimes "best value" can mean a discount, which is why I usually do the math. With all the talk of false advertising etc, I figure I may as well point out the issue with the U.S. site.

This reminds me of the policy with refill packages (coffee, cacao and the like) - they are often more expensive than the first buy package, where you get a decent container for the stuff as well for a lower price in total.
