Have you seen a direct confirmation that crown crates will be included in those crown store items that can be gifted? I haven't, but may have missed something.

Doesn't matter, even if you can gift a crown crate to someone else, the contents of the crown crate can not traded and therefore has no value under the law.

Are you 100% sure that crown crates and their contents/crown gems, cannot be gifted? proof?

On the PTS it does not allow you to gift any crown store items you already purchased. You can only buy new items with crowns to gift to someone. Crates are not for sale on the PTS at the moment so it is hard to say if it will allow you to gift crates. But, since you cannot gift anything you already have, I think it is safe to say that you would not be able to gift anything you received in a crate.

If you can gift crates its just an random crate, you can not gift content in crates.
The Belgian law targeted loot crates you bought for real money and you could sell the reward.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Hopefully. Offering the items contained within the CC for straight crowns would be much better assuming they were priced fairly - which doesn't seem a practise ZO$ are familiar with.

If it does revert back to pre-CC i'd go back to actually buying crowns every now and then but as things stand outside my sub they're getting nothing.

Most governments don't know about it.

The ones that do, are busy with illegal immigration or pending nuclear war.
Or banks that charge customers for stuff they don't actually give them.

I hope that that puts some perspective on this issue.

Crown items arent't worth real money, at least not like PUBG items that can be sold in Steam for euros.
I don't think they will be banned by any law soon. Law making, voting on it and accepting it, takes a couple of years (3-5 years).

I also think The Dutch government has a good point by only banning the ones that are worth real money. Otherwise it won't be betting of gambling in the first place.

Not a remote chance this is happening in ESO.

I read that a handful of European governments have determined certain loot boxes to be considered illegal gambling under their laws... I don't play on EU servers thankfully, so I was just wondering if Zenimax will have to make changes to their policy if several other MMO companies will have to as well due to EU law enforcement actions.

both belgium and the netherlands have ruled that loot crates that contain items that could be traded outside the game fall foul of their respective gambling legislation.

do crown crates contain items that can be traded?

    nope, it's all bound.

so can the contents be traded outside the game?

    wait... let me check....

    nope, the sky isn't falling.

hint: if you want clear concise information on legislation go to a news site not an online mag that only exists to pipe advertizing at you.

You'll be surprised when many governments demand it things change fast.

Also, you know why this video is here.

Sums it up well. You know Peter is, well I can't type it without the filter hitting on it, but the point is a sub 30 IQ. This suggests people drawn to spend all their money chasing a chance are also... Peter-ish. I don't mind the crates, but I'm also intelligent enough to not be sucked in, and I have a very addictive personality.

Couple things - the new log in rewards coming with Summerset may throw a wrench in how the EU decides if the lootboxes are illegal. As in if players are also getting these loot boxes for free, just for logging in, they're no longer consider "purchase" exclusive.

Additionally none of the items from a loot box is trade-able to others, and there for the items within cannot be sold for additional gain.

I doubt, based on what legislation has been passed, that ESO's crown crates will be targeted. Also they're not going to change the rating imo because the purchase of crowns is not done IN GAME. At most, they'll put a warning on the site before purchasing crowns, but because the purchasing isn't done in game the rating wont change.
