How well will this run ESO?

It's a laptop...

Intel i7 - 4720 HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2.59 GHz.

16GB Ram

GeForce GTX 965m

I'll also run it off of an SSD, if that matters.

Not really a computer guy. This is a couple year old laptop.

It's an ASUS G751JL.

Thanks.

It will run fine on lower settings, good to run games on SSD's because they run and process faster than standard hdd's since they're none mechanical (AKA games will load faster.) & 16 gigs of RAM is the perfect amount for gaming, anymore then its pointless unless you do a lot of rendering.

    Thanks.

I just installed ESO on it and played for like 30 minutes. I think I have my settings cranked to High and the game seems to run pretty smoothly. I'd say 45 + FPS at all times. But that would likely change in trials and stuff.

Anyways.. where is the best place to get addons and what are some good addons to get first? I remember I used to use Curse for this kind of stuff but am not sure if that is useful anymore.

To easily download addons for eso most use a program called Minion, you can search in the application direct to find other addons which is helpful - https://minion.mmoui.com/

Also, you're correct with the fps difference in other areas and trials - some areas in the game such as trials & cyrodiil you'll drop fps considerably so it may be wise to drop your settings just a little bit to prep for more stressful parts of the game for your system.

I have 940mx and I can play on high video settings if I turn all the fluff off.

Can PvP just fine, got EMP 2 weeks ago in shore.

Make sure all your drivers are always updated and restart your PC if you lag for no reason.

    Cheers!

That will actually run well even on higher settings , especially after the new update goes live . Just make some settings adjustments and optimize for ESO and enjoy great graphics no problem .

    Thanks.

    Here's a breakdown:

The M series 965/970 is about comparable to the desktop GTX 1050, which can render ultra 1080p in this game, no problem.

16GB Ram will be fine as long as it is at least DDR3 and at least 13XX MHz. Which most PCs of your laptops generation did/do, so probably no problem.

The i7 4720HQ is roughly 50% weaker than the comparable desktop i7 4790K of the same generation (2013). Still, it should be capable of achieving a stable 30-60 FPS. If it's not, consider turning down your view distance to about 30, and dropping shadows to low.

The overall weak point of the laptop is probably the CPU, but you won't notice it in this game if you're running 1080p. If you're playing more modern AAA games though, you'll notice that your CPU is your bottleneck.
