If you equip poisons on a lighting staff does the heavy attack apply the effect to anyone hit by the splash?
Do poisons work off ability's as well ash heavy and light attacks

Is oblivion damage effected by resistance and other forms of mitigation

Not too sure about your first question, but oblivion damage isn’t affected by any form of mitigation.

Poisons have a 20% chance to proc on damage done by light attacks, heavy attacks, and weapon abilities.

I'm unsure about AoE damage from lightning heavy attack on nearby enemies applying a poison to them. While as it is written it should, but without actual testing there is no way to know for sure.

I can tell you that a weapon ability cast from one kind of weapon will not proc a poison on a different kind of weapon on the the other bar. I did not test what would happen if you had two of the same kind of weapon slotted.

Nothing mitigates Oblivion Damage. It deals direct damage to the health pool bypassing Shields, resistance, block, etc.

The lightening splash damage is from a passive in the destro line, isn’t it? If thats the case, that isn’t a weapon ability or a light/heavy attack. Doubt it should work but with as much disfuctional stuff in the game..... i would be surprised if it applied poisons to everything hit by the splash damage all at once

poisons work similar to enchantements, if we only look at the way they proc from light and heavy attacks. therefore they wont proc on an enemy hit by the splash from the heavy lightning staff attack, since the splash actually isnt part of the heavy attack. to explain that, maybe another example will help like concussion from lightning damage. as you surely heard, light and heavy attacks cant proc concussion, but the enchantements can. meanwhile also the splash damage from a heavy lightning staff attack can, which again leads to the conclusion, that the splash damage actually is a separate thing.

Deadly cloak and morphs will proc a back bar poison, though.

But only if you are on the back bar with cloak already running. Endless hail or elemental blockade too procc poisons/ enchantments of the bar you are currently on, not just the bar they were cast from.

@ezio45 Poisons and enchantments always only procc on one target per procc. IIRC for AoE abilities it is always on the target closest to the center of the AoE (for PbAoEs that would be the target closest to you).

Only one target will be poisoned no matter how the poison is applied.

The only form of "mitigation" that works versus Oblivion damage is health. With the exception to that slightly being Knight Slayer set which scales it's damage off it's target's health (9% of max health of target as Oblivion).

Oh ***! My test wasn't thorough enough!

So what doesn't work is - Resto Staff

If I cast WoE and then swap over to Resto staff with poisons, I could not get the poisons to fire
