Since staves will be considered 2 slots, what will happen if I have a lightning staff main and restoration staff as main backup on one skill bar? Is that possible and what is any benefits will that give me?

You don’t get them both applying at the same time now, you won’t get them both applying at the same time then either.

YEAH..I know . I would be using lighting staff always as my main but I just wonder if I would have any benefit from the restoration staff being slotted as main backup like any of the passives..

Basically, from the passives you'd heal better, get some magicka back if you block with the resto staff, and get more magicka back heavy attacking with the resto staff.

So really, do you want to heal or use any of the resto staff skills? Because for DPS, I think you'd do better to heavy attack with lightning for the aoe damage.

I sometimes use a resto staff on my backbar as a tank if my main healer is asking for backup when we try hard content for the first time or on my Sorc if I'm dungeon running as DPS/healer. But otherwise resto staff is mostly for healing.

I doubt it. I would guess the way they look at it is that when you're using a weapon that takes two hands, the other slot on that skill bar can't be filled (nor would any passive apply). Just like the way it works now, essentially. All that's changing is that a two-handed weapon will be considered to count as two slots for armor sets.

I assume the two hand weapons will just get three stats instead of two.. per weapon.

    Stop.

Right now you hold a destro front bar and resto back bar and do not get any special benefits from the staff that is not in your hand.

And after summerset hits, the exact same thing will be in effect: you do not get special benefits from the staff or weapon that is not in your hand.

You have confused yourself regarding what the ‘counts as two’ is doing.

Be naked. Put a staff in your hand. That gives you the two item set bonus. Add a chest, there’s three items - because the staff counts as two.

Cast aside all this front bar back bar passives stuff, because you only get the benefits for the stuff you are wearing and holding right then.

When you light attack with a resto staff, your resto passives are in effect, and you do not get the back bar destro passives because at that moment you are using resto - NOT destro.

As said before. The counting as 2 does one thing and one thing only... counting as 2 slots for set bonus instead of the current 1. So 2h wielders can use 5 + 5 + 2 sets like dual wield can now. Nothing else changes.
