Downtime ETAs

Would be nice in the future if there could be some downtime ETAs. Obviously, sometimes things don't go as expected and it can take longer, but planning a late night when I can't actually play is a little disappointing, as I got home at the time the servers went down. I have no problem with taking the game down to fix things for a while, but I probably would have just gone to bed had I known the servers would be down for a few hours. Instead I thought, "Oh, they're probably just doing a quick patch" aaaaand here I am.

Seems like an emergency maintenance since it isnt planned, and it is just after release, and there are some serious bugs going around.

Otherwise, they have already posted their maintenance plans.

I feel like "We're going to be doing some heavy work for a bit, we don't know how long this is going to take" would not have been hard to come up with.

Everyone knows that "unknown downtime", means exactly what you said.

I am not in tears at all, the original statement was,

Hi everyone!

We are bringing the North American megaserver down for maintenance. We'll let everyone know when this operation has ended as soon as we have an update. Thanks for your patience!

which is extremely vague. They said nothing about undetermined downtime as far as I could find, just that they were going offline. I would just like to know in the future if there is a possibility downtime could be extensive.

I agree that a ballpark estimate, however wide, would still be more reassuring than the statement they put out. The issue most people have with the vagueness of the announcement is that we have no way to determine whether or not we should bother waiting around. If it's just going to be an hour or two, I might stay up and wait a while. If its going to be something like 5+ hours or more, it would be nice to know so we can just all go to bed or do other things and try tomorrow. In short, we just want to know if we should bother waiting for the servers to come up.

If it is going to be short, they will tell you. If it is going to be unknown... they wont and you should assume at least 2 hours.
