This may be a dumb question, about a pre-order

I have never actually pre-ordered a game before so I don't really know how this goes. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

My friend pre-ordered the digital version of Summerset and apparently has access to pre-order bonus content, i.e the nightmare senche. I pre-ordered the physical deluxe edition through here on the ESO website, with Best Buy as the retailer. The package will be shipped and should arrive by release day. Do I have to wait to access the pre-order bonus content once I get the physical product? Do I not get a code or anything to access the digital bonus content like the mount and whatnot? Again, sorry if this is a dumb question.

After further research I seem to have found my answer, I will get instructions from my retailer when I get the physical copy.

Yeah it's a joke that Zenimax doesn't have a deal setup with places for people that want the physical stuff. It says Pre-Order or Pre-Purchase on their site, but only pre-order of digital version gets the in game stuff. Samething happened last year with morrowind and I'm guessing same will happen next year with the next expansion.

I'm not usually one to complain, but I don't see why the people who pre-order the digital game, get the bonus content. but for us who pre-order the physical content, we still have to wait for the code for the in game bonuses. I don't see why a code cannot be emailed to us after pre-ordering.

It’s easy to cancel a preorder for a physical copy. People would try to get the free stuff and cancel their preorder with whatever store they ordered from.

Okay, this makes sense. I didn't even think about it this way.
