Esos open world is awesome and beautiful

you also can enter most of the houses
Steal stuff from everywhere
pickpocket people
Murder innocents

the only thing i REALY miss from the game are some Events in the Zones
Vampire / Daedra / Bandit attack on a Town
Caravan Escort
Help with some kind of Big portal summoning for some reason

or anything.... would give soo much more life to the zones <.<

Its good but then it will become about rewards to be good.

12 VS 12 PVP can be awesome or getting new maps like cyrodiil (playing over single map from long time is now getting boring)

Yeah, I miss those things. I think one of my favourites was in EQ where a GM would come along disguised as a HUGE monster. If you attacked he would pick you up and hurl you across the zone, literally. It was great. Of course you died when you landed but it was one hell of a ride. Eventually enough folks got there to engage him, it was so much fun.

    ...we have that.
    Only small scale tho.
Caraven rescues. Bandit ambushes. Summoner rescues. Daedric fissures.

...its there, just small enough and out of the way enough that those who care not for it are not impeded in their playing the game... which I presume was the intention.

And then there are events... holiday events. Which they might add more in time... I mean, they could make special daedric invasions plague tamriels towns on every friday the 13th or something like that, yes? They just haven't yet, but someday they might choose to...

What I miss in this regard is... in cyrodil, I would love to see the occasional random "NPC conquest" messing up peoples war... imperial legion taking a keep from the side that has most, or bandits occupying a town, or daedra overrunning an outpost... just to get a sense of "he world is reacting to the war instead being just backdrop"

I did enjoy those moments of small events, but they always gave little reward. I was happy with seeing them because that definitely added something to the game, but I only ever received extra experience for it.

Totally fine, but it would be nice to either tie an achievement to this or to make them more complex.

By the way, Wrothgar's world bosses can be considered world events and they ARE cool, downright cool. Same goes for the World Bosses in Vvanderfell.

In GW2, this concept was expanded a bit with running overworld quests, but you always felt like you were missing a part of this because you joined as the events were already unfolding. Honestly, it grew bothersome in almost no time as I could never witness the whole questline!

Perhaps a bit more of emphasis with some "Veteran" world events like super-strong bosses (that trigger when like 24 players are in the area) or, as you mentioned, large scale overworld quests that can be triggered by a group of X people once per day would be an interesting addition. Once again though, the goal would be to make them feel rewarding and fun, or people will just forget about them or get mad at them.

when i read the title, i wanted to mention gw2, you beat me to it :p
"really well" is an understatement tbh, in gw2 i would log on, with a certain goal in mind, not able to complete my own set goal because i got sidetracked all around the map. I'd go to a map to farm materials, before I knew it I was fighting an epic dragon with approx 100-150 people. "go play guildwars then" yadayadaya, gw2 sucked because after hitting lvl 80 there is no progression and endgame is fashionwars.. Took a 3 year break from gw2, my gear was still BiS..

It would have to be small scale events. PVPers see what the game looks like with 150 people in full combat on these servers and it ain't pretty or smooth.

All those events are already there, like @TheShadowScout posted. What "meaningful" rewards are you talking about?
I mean, the best rewards are the fun you get with it.

a few mmos have done this , you never know keep wishing , it would actually be nice to npcs to come hunt the players , example you have murdered this man and was seen , now his family wants revenge .

omg can see the tears now , npc chashed me down and killed me , would have to rub some salt in

As someone else mentioned there are small scale events like this already. You can find NPCs by the side of the road being threatened by bandits, and sometimes it turns out it's a trap to lure in someone like you so they can rob you. You can find amateur sorcerers out in the wilderness summoning daedra and then losing control of them and needing to be saved, or small groups of cultists doing all kinds of weird and terrible things. But they're all quite small, self-contained and easy to miss. Especially if your sole interest is rewards because they don't drop any special items or give any extra XP over what you get for killing the enemies.

The problem with doing anything bigger is it would need to be done in a way that doesn't interfere with quests. It works in GW2 because those are the quests, and because every map is designed with the events in mind.

But maybe the phasing system ESO has could come in useful here. For example instead of you saving a village and then it's safe forever and nothing bad ever happens again (at least not in the timeline of this game) maybe events could occur in the final phased version. Either related to what happened before (maybe the enemy learn that they were only defeated because of one outside and decide to have another go once you've moved on) or something else entirely, pirates show up along the coast, bandits try to take advantage of a town's weakened defences, some paranoid villages start a militia thinking everyone is vampires....

As long as it's not a major town where periodically throwing everything back into chaos would be really annoying for anyone trying to use the services I think it could be an interesting way to add some replay value to old zones.

    Yeah, I figured.
Small events wouldn't -have- meaningful rewards (though it'd be nice if they had a small chance to drop motiv pages for example - worm cult for those silly summoners and such, something outlaw/bandit related for all the banditry encounters, etc. Stuff that makes sense!)
And the big (seasonal) events already do, sort of.

The issue is, they cannot just drop "meaningful rewards" on small events without devaluing all the rest of the game. And they may be loath to add events where people just want to follow the story, since that might spoil that... and thus they came up with dailies for many DLC regions, those are their medium "events" between the small no-reward random encounters, and the bigger seasonal stuff...

We've also seen what it looks like when lots of people pile on to a dolmen - can't see the spawning enemies, flashy skill effects everywhere as people toss AoEs in hope of tagging something, etc.

Yeah, can't see "big world events" working well.

We've got dolmens & world bosses. That seems to be the limit of it.

This reminded me of Cataclysm for WoW. The entire world being torn apart. That'd be sweet to go to Stormhaven after a successful planemeld.

The soulshriven areas are bad ass.

Dark Anchors and world bosses are the "public events" in ESO. We're even getting another type with Summerset and I'm sure we'll get even more with future chapters.
