Is it me or the new trial sets are rather underwhelming?

for a 12-man content the new trial sets look like garbage! even if there's a perfected version, they're still miles away compared to previous trials sets like moondancer, VO, IA, etc...

its still early to say, but I hope they reconsider those new ones

They do not seem to be that great on paper. For some reason I thought there was going to be perfected weapon sets in the trial like Asylum and was surprised when I heard there was only going to be perfected versions of the dropped sets. I must have heard wrong at some point.

yup upon reading it on the patch notes it feels like a "zone set" not a "trial set"

I would say all new summerset sets are very underwhelming....nocturnal is the only one looking somewhat potentially interesting....but MUCH less so after the dodge heavy armor nerv

Yeah, they don't sound very good, and they don't even give minor slayer. Additionally, they seem very lackluster. Their 5 piece bonus sounds really boring.

I guess we should have expected it when they decided to go with the AS style of "trial" again. Hopefully the next real trial will have some actually nice sets in it.

I honestly dont understand what in the world theyre thinking when making a trial set let alone making the perfected version of it, trial sets should have more than that

The one that turns aoes into heals? It’s amazing in every way, PVE or PVP. Probably soon to be BIS. I quite hate Trials these days, but I’ll run it just for that.

This particular set is underwhelming as-is right now. I've given my point of view on it in detail here:

I’ve tested it too, and it works brilliantly on a tank or on healers with stationary aoes. It all depends on what you’re using to proc it—mileage varies. It the fact that it’s an on command, do nothing heal with no cool down shouldn’t be dismissed. Have you tested it in PVP? Because it’s borderline broken.

I disagree that the radius should be larger, that would definitely push it into broken territory.

I can see the set's purpose in some niche situations like on a tank or dedicated tank healer (kiting tank healer in vAS for example) or even a 3rd dps in vDSA (which I consider broken because sets like this mess up the traditional group composition that's the essence of MMOs). But in most situations PVE tanks and healers will look for a set that adds something on top to what they can easily provide with their skill toolset. Something to empower themselves, the group or debuff the enemies. As-is this set does not provide that. You give up something useful towards something you can do with a single, cheap and quick casted healing spring. I'm talking PVE here tho.

Regarding PVP, you may be right that the set is stronger there if it bypasses battle spirit. I did not test it and take your word for it that it unleashes more of its power in PVP. After all, the lower the healing power of the caster, the better this set will perform since it's a locked proc. Which thrives things into shady waters in my opinion. If such a set becomes better the less a toon is skilled in healing, it smells like healbot. Will a tankbot be the next thing so we all can play the whole content with nothing but dps? That's not diversity but questions supporting roles in the group composition. For this reason I don't advocate to buff the set's healing power.

However, if you bring the set into context of healing skills, on paper it is just too weak for the small radius it has. ZOS logic is small radius and short duration result in strong heals (see the insane burst of earthgore with just 2 pieces) or big radius with longer duration and weaker heals. Instead of buffing its healing power I would therefore go the other direction and ask for an increase of the radius or to have the radius replaced by the area covered through the skill that actually procs the effect. It would also fix the issue of random placement with lightning wall that's a serious flaw atm. That it works ok with other skills does not negate the placement bug with lightning wall.

Even if the radius is increased and the placement bug is fixed, I don't see it join the PVE healer's meta unless something is added to buff the group. I suggested major mending or crit chance buffs. If that's added, this set might become BiS. Otherwise it shares other healing set's fate and end in niche builds at best. That would be sad for a set that may not be easy to get in its perfected trial drop.
