I've had enough. Across all the forum communities I'm a part of (this one being no exception), every time there is a thread where the discussion is serious, some troll has to ruin it by posting a witty comment.

I would like to propose an amendment to the Forum CoC for this forum: That if a person makes a witty comment in a thread where such witty comments are uncalled for or otherwise out of place, they should be warned, suspended, or perma-banned for trolling. Cos more often than not, these "out-of-place jesters" seek to ruin threads by posting witty comments.

Yes, there should be some room to have fun (for example, the weekly Patch Notes/Natch Potes thread is a great time to be joke around while patiently waiting for the megaservers to come back up). However, that said, there is a time to be witty and a time to be serious. Several times over the past several weeks across many of my forum communities, trolls would post a witty comment in an attempt to ruin the thread and earn some pointless Likes, Agrees, Awesomes, or whatever the reaction buttons are for that forum.

People who are "out-of-place jesters" should be warned, suspended, or banned for trolling (depending on how many violations of Forum CoC that person has), and have their post removed, along with any Insightfuls, Agrees, and/or Awesomes they got as a result of their witty comment removed from their profile.
