How big of a deal are monster sets for VMA?

As the title states, when I look up builds (mainly Alcast) they usually utilize monster sets and I definitely understand why, but..

I'm not really in the position to get most Monster sets.. I am a bit socially put off by having to ask people to sacrifice time to help me get something in game, you know..?

Yet Maelstrom offers excellent gear as a solo player.

It's not required but it helps.

I've done runs without any monster sets. Important things are knowing the mechanics (most important), having good burst DPS, the ability to sustain and heal yourself.

Monster sets only add 2-3K DPS at most so it will not be a make or break anything.

I think it is more important for high score runs.

Just for farming, you can definetly go without them. Maybe even use one set for sustain/survavibility and one for DPS.

Unless you know the mechanics and spawn points inside out, most monster sets in vMA won't even add that much DPS with all the moving you need to do.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you are going for super high scores.

A few of my Stam toons have been using Mighty Chudan. It helps quite a bit. I have also mixed Kraghs helmet or Pirate skeleton and Lord Warden shoulder, which has also helped me. Surviving the fights is just as important IMO.

Being well rounded has been better for me than glass cannon.

Kraghs and pirate skeleton are amongst the easiest helmets to get.

Magic toons are different though. They fare better with damage shields than resistance. Many magic builds also use easy to get sets. Illambris, Infernal Guardian, Grothdar are all fairly easy and help to add more damage in times of need.

getting monstersets is rly easy. non-dlc monstersets should be no problem with random groups dlc ones are just pain in the ass but hey i didnt try it out lately

Not a make or break, but definitely look into having 1 piece monster shoulder.

Tbh any dungeon followed by 1 are fairly easy to do, if you're going into VMA you may even be able to solo/duo them. The only mechanics in 1 dungeons are like overland bosses. Avoid heavy's and stay out of stupid
