Should shields scale with Spell Damage as well

I have an issue with the Light Attacks scaling changes. Normally I would go with spell damage to increase light attacks heavy attacks and damage with skills. Knowing that Shield scale Only with max magic. Now they scale better. So the reasoning for going with a spell damage in a build has been Nerfed. This mean max magic will now increase your light and heavy attacks the same as spell damage but shields still get nothing from it.

Maybe I’m wrong and need some splainin

    I think pets should

I don't get your post though.

If Max mag now makes light attacks deal more damage, then you want Shields to stay scaling to Max Magicka so you can deal more damage and have big Shields.

It's still 10.1-1 meaning spell damage will provide more, as well as sources of spell damage are higher than their Max Magicka counter parts.

    Seems like a win win

This means you want more Max magic as a comparison to spell damage. Always.

Why can’t I have 32k Max magic and 5k Spell Damage and have the same shields as 55k Max Magic 2800 Spell Damage.

They now have the same Light and Heavy Attack Damage so why not same Shield Size

Because, that 32k mag 5k spell dmg build is a lot easier to build (via sets like alchemist etc) and would give specs like Templars Shields the size of Sorc's + the absolutely most massive spot heal in game.

Or DKs with sorc sized Shields and leaps

    Or NBs.

Because every spec that doesn't need Shields to survive could instantly have access to Sorc like shield size and sacrifice nothing

All it would take is the right scaling. When shield come into play it could be at 45 SD to every 5 Max magic.

Like on my Light Armor Mag Warden with Dampen Magic.

Go Spell Damage get same Damage or Go Necro with same Damage just better Shields.

    I’ll just go Necro.

I’m not too sure on the math but maybe I’m wrong

You would have less damage. Almost everything scales 10.1 mag to 1 spell damage.

Then for example on a set bonus it's like 1100 mag or 129 spell damage. Not only is the spell damage more valuable (due to it being worth 10.1 mag per 1 spell damage) you also have more of it.

Tangential, but don't Templar-specific shields scale with health, not Magicka?

Yup. Sun sheild and morphs are 30% of your heal and then scale with mobs hit.
