During the anniversary event I've spent a lot of time in Cyrodiil doing the daily quests in each of the alliance towns. I enjoy PvP but never really bothered with the dailies in Cyrodiil, except for capture keep/resource or kill enemy player dailies. The PvE dailies in Cyrodiil just didn't feel rewarding enough to justify spending any time doing them.
Now that I'm farming Jubilee boxes from the event, these dailies suddenly feel extremely rewarding. I'm clearly not the only one, lots of players have been farming all of these dailies around the clock. This has created quite an interesting environment in these town. Players from all factions are questing in these towns, fighting to take over ownership of the towns, hunting other players. Groups are coming to do dailies with some safety in numbers. I've formed many truces and started many lengthy battles with players from other factions. I'll even break from questing occasionally to go help take back the map, defend, or cap some resources in time for eval tick.
The other day I took a group of guild mates who have always been intimidated by Cyrodiil to Bruma to complete the dailies. They have been playing for years and have always avoided Cyrodiil. The allure of Jubilee boxes however trumped their distaste for PvP and I convinced them to give it a try. We had a great time, we all died, did some killing, got lots of Jubilee boxes and now some of those players who have avoided PvP for years have decided to give it another shot.
This has all been extremely refreshing. I find that I'm enjoying Cyrodiil as if it were a whole new experience. The PvE quests feel a lot more like PvP when all the factions are trying to quest in these towns and they're not the normal ghost towns they usually are the rest of the year.
I say all this because I think it would be great if ZOS improved the rewards for completing the PvE dailies in Cyrodiil during non-event times to encourage people to engage in them regularly. ZOS often talk about finding ways to spread out players in Cyrodiil. I think this event proves that rewarding them adequately for doing so is a hell-of-a good incentive to spread out. All those people asking for more small scale PvP in Cyrodiil would also greatly benefit from this.
What do you guys think? Have you enjoyed Cyrodiil during this event? Do you think they should improve the rewards for completing these less PvP-centric dailies?
As a side note, I think having some sort of PvP writ reward system for completing these dailies would be interesting.
