[PVP Suggestion]Contract Assassination

I would love to see this option in open world pvp. Basically the idea is:

A player character is able to put out a contract to take out another player from the opposing faction. Only 1 player can accept the contract, the reason is so the target is not steamrolled by the whole faction. There is also a cool down period so that, super rich trolls cannot make 100 contracts to take out the same player.

Once the contract is accepted, the hitman will have the target's location on their map, and will be able to track them down. upon successful fulfillment of the contract the hitman is rewarded with the gold(80% of total amount, 20% goes to the dark hood), or a combination crafting mats and such.

Couple of issues and workarounds:
    [
  • What if, the target is a zerg leader and is untouchable in his zerg group - well I guess there better be a hefty bounty
  • What if the target is chilling in a keep and does not come out - make preparations to take over the keep and hefty bounty
  • What if the target is chilling in the home base keep - target is not informed if there is a contract on their name. and they should be unaware up their inevitable demise. after some time. the contract will be canceled.
  • What if the target logs out - contract can only last for a fixed amount of time. if it is not fulfilled it is canceled and money is returned to the contractor.

What do you guys think? any suggestions to improve this concept?

or or or comment why it would not work any why pvp sucks, if you are a PVE unicorn teddy bear.

    Much love.

    I see several problems.

    1. Its basically a practically free way to keep track of enemy movements, especially enemy raid leads. All you have to do is take the contract and just watch where they go, reporting back to your faction.

    2. Its basically griefing and paying someone to harass/kill another player. There are already rewards for killing categories of players without getting specific players.

Cool idea but would easily be taken advantage of.

If I noticed some guy just waiting for me outside a Keep away from the front, I'd just stay there on the wall and stare, or until friendlies come out and fight em for me.

Dang you are right. the First point is a pretty serious problem. Shoot .... I think it kills the whole point. I need to think of a workaround.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I dont think you shoukd know where they are. I just think that when you get close enough to them you should see the hand symbol above them like you would in a DB quest.

It should be hard to complete. Shouldnt be farmable. But the reward should be big.
But... if you find your target and instead they kill you.. then they should get the reward.

Good idea in general, sure zos has the capability to add and improve cyrodiil. Use ideas like these and build/fine tune them to make them work.

Sounds cool. Need a workaround for the you-can-see-every-enemy issue, but it would be funny.

In star wars galaxies they had a player bounty system but only players with the right bounty hunter skills unlocked could take these bounties. Also the only way to get a bounty on a player was if he/she killed you, you could then pay money out of your own wallet to put that much a bounty on the player.
Under what the OP suggests, it opens a can of griefing worms. Need some controls...but definitely sounds cool maybe under the dark brotherhood skillline.

I would LOVE to see the bounty system implemented as it was in Star Wars Galaxies.

Implemented as a Dark Brotherhood function, instead of SWG's Bounty Hunter.

-Don't utilize gold, instead utilize AP. And the buy-in to this should be fairly large in comparison to the reward.
-Needing to be killed in order to place them is a good idea. (The killer gets AP, so it isn't an incentive not to kill people)
-But you should only be able to place one bounty at a time. (Killer must also not be dead, or have died after killing you)
-It should not be a UI based system, rather have it function in a similar manner to the IC Tel Var Imperial Physique x4 Bonus. Marks have a faint glow around them (less obvious in comparison to IPx4) However, the larger the AP reward (either from multiple bounties or a single large bounty), will cause this aura to be more prevalent.
-The Bounty should be split among all players who assist in killing the target.
-This Bounty should deteriorate over a long period of time.

That's just my opinion for the core mechanics of it, to be lore-ified later. It doesn't even really need to be associated with any type of guild, but it can be for a more polished world experience.

Maybe without the tracking and choosing your target. Something like, "X recently took Drakelow Keep and killed X guild mate. Hunt him down for some AP."

If you can choose the target, theres not a ton stopping someone from harassing them every hour, day, week, whatever cooldown you put in place. Rewards should also be lucrative, but nothing too crazy where it's abusable.

Also, was the comment about PvE players really necessary? I'm not going to even attempt to dismantle that bait.
