What will it take to get you back into the game?

This is for people who currently do not play the game and quit for various reasons but are waiting and watching to see if they actually fix the things that made a lot of people quit.

1. Cryodiil ( Lag, 45-60 fps when 2 people and a tree are on my screen)
2. Balance ( Never will be perfect but the game use to be about outplaying your opponent, now it's about which sets you have and which class you are, hard to 1vX like you could in the beginning )
3. Combat ( Animation canceling is not a feature, Rotations feel awkward and clunky, too few abilities, too many snares, resource poisons, it needs an overhaul )
4. Bugs ( Bugs, bugs and more bugs )

Looking at summerset, I see no reason to buy it...yeah there is more endgame content, jewelcrafting has finally been added after years but you want people to return to this game. I think fixing these features are worth far more than just trying to constantly push out content all the time without addressing a lot of issues with the game. releasing another meh update like morrowind and then just giving away features of that update for free or just flat out giving away the whole dlc isn't really helping your case either.

How's that going to be possible with the forums filled with people still complaining?

I've only been back for about a month now since leaving 9 months ago. I didn't come to the forums. I found out about ESO's improvements through YT, players who have actually described why the game is better.

These opinions swayed me to try the game again, and here I am. The game is better.

Perfect? Of course not. But if this game ever goes back to the ways of the Veteran days, I'm out again.

Summerset isle DLC (i dont consider Morrowind an expansion relative to expansions in other games, So I'll refer to them as what they are, DLCs).

I'll prob play for at most a month or two, then I'll quit again until the next dlc with quests comes out.

So, someone who has recently came back to the game. What are the reasons why you think this game is better from your own personal experience and not what other people have told you. I'm not looking for reassurance here as to if I should return or not. Im stating why i haven't returned , In hopes that others would respond giving there reason why this mmo isn't as popular as it use to be.

I started ESO online on xbox at launch, wasn't impressed but was not let down either. loved the idea of being able to go to all of the locations.... I knew the locations would be released over time with dlc and other marketing strategy to keep the game rolling...

but when these down times are happening like this, and the PVP is more of a slaughter house. it does make me want to drift off again

The better question is, "Why do players leave?"

People who are disenchanted are usually PvPers... The solution may be as simple as getting out of Cyrodiil...

The fantastic developers at ZOS do not use PvP feedback when balancing the ENVIRONMENT (the "E" in PvE...) content... This is basically because PvP content has a variable on both sides of the equation while PvE is something which can be controlled by ZOS...
"Clunky combat" is more the result of mistimed attacks than something that ZOS did... If the combat isn't fluid... perhaps more practice is needed... I, too, at first; found combat to be "clunky..." However with practice, I learned not to just mash buttons, which resulted in every other attack being cancelled...
Bugs happen... Thanks ZOS for listening to pertinent customer feedback and working hard to develop a premium product...

Quit about 6 months ago, doing exactly what you said in your post, quietly watching. For me to come back I dont need much at all, just a solid way of pvping without getting zerged down or having to play stupid 4v4v4 BGs, and fix stuff like long load screens and lag.

I suspect most people who say they quit, actually still play but keep talking about quitting, which makes them feel better and more important ;).

Fun content that doesnt take a team of 4-12 elite players with no life to complete...

Seriously challenging is one thing but stupid vague mechanics that dont compensate lag. No death runs for skins when you.can barely find dps or even a tank that dont get wiped by a passing squirrel... missed out on both dragon bones and horns of the reach because literally cannot find anyone competent to do the content with... dumb it down a bit for the masses

That was my solution. I got out of cyrodiil and eso completely. I assure you I'm more than capable of weaving my light attacks and heavy attacks between abilities to cancel them through weapon swapping and pressing other abilities.Combat, balance and bugs affect pve and pvp. I honestly don't understand what your point is. As if all the people that have quit the game due to various reasons including the ones I mentioned aren't directly tied to the main problems eso has. All I can do is voice my opinion and if enough people agree about it, then maybe Zos will do something about it, that is pertinent customer feedback but coming in here as a white knight isn't.

Less nerfs and constant class changes . Less regrinding gear all the time each balance change . Staying on top takes as much time as a part time job . I want to enjoy the game as it adds new content not revamped old content to stay busy . I never leave but I do dedicate less time for those reasons .

Performance is obvious. But the most important thing I want to see is more rewarding content. Like currency for doing specific quests to spend at different vendors. Or in game earnable mounts. Something to progress our characters

The game would have to become interesting at a gameplay level. It's easy to the point that I don't understand why combat even exists in PVE. I don't really consider it to be a game anymore.

It's most apparent during holiday events when players repeatedly do the same boring game-related activities that they can't possibly lose at for hours at a time for more chances to crank the holiday box slot machine.

Just like Casinos are for the idiot masses, so too are games now.

This list would be a significant step forward:

    - Separation of PvE and PvP so abilities aren't nerfed into the ground in one area because of childish whining in the other.
    - Reversal of Morrowind sustain nerfs so that playing the game doesn't feel like a chore to use abilities. A game should be about FUN, not balance - balance is boring. When everything is "overpowered", nothing is.
    - No more "overhauls" to existing abilities. If folks want variety, add another class or skill line - don't disrupt an existing one.
    - A PvE-based Cyrodiil/Imperial City for large-scale PvE delve/district raiding and domen hopping. Forts filled with trial-level mobs and bosses, overtaken by Daedra. Stop forcing players to PvP in order to get necessary PvE completion.

But we both know this will likely never happen. I'm pursuing the forums today for the first time in nearly a year because I heard of the new chapter and was curious if anything had changed for the better. Sadly, I haven't seen anything implemented I listed above - in fact, quite the opposite, so I'm not coming back.

Some form of risk. Even with the 'lets go naked and forget cp' (which I've always felt is stupid; ergo why should I have to remove gear and the entire progression system, to fix their borked game for them?), the lions share of this game is a snoozefest.

I missed older MMO's with their focus on group content and so I went back to them. This game isn't even classed as an MMO anymore. Its single player with friends (making the little group content there is, almost redundant long term) and if I wanted that there are plenty of higher quality titles with co-op and far better story telling.

ESO doesn't know what it wants to be. Of late, they do seem to be stuck into a 'more of the same' cycle too. You have to improve and innovate in a meaningful way. Adding the odd trial and a new craft line that people will be done with in a few weeks isnt good enough, when you consider that other MMO's release huge annual expansions on top of quarterly dungeon, raid, craft and so forth, updates pretty frequently.

The action combat I find way too spammy and simplistic. More so if you are sticking to the meta (potential large amount of toggle abilities wasting space). Maybe its this last bit that eventually bores me, for whatever reason is just not engaging enough to make me want to chug through the stories unless I change my build every week or so at this point.

I dont find the overall story all that engaging anyway to be fair (primarily a pvp player) so if it wasnt for the PvP, I'd probably be full time FFXIV (ironic since im not the biggest fan of their combat system either, but I do think its social features knock ESO's out of the park).

I just need the kids to go to bed.

But I have a RL friend who will come back if there is a full game worth of stuff to do. Sometimes people dive in all the way, do absolutely everything that interests them and then leave. I can't blame someone who doesn't want to do a dungeon for a 15th time. And for some, pvp isn't the cornucopia of new battles that others think it is. He ran out of stuff to do and faceroll quests don't count as new content for some.

faceroll quests don't count as new content for some.

And this is a major problem. Long term players shouldn't be told to handicap themselves to make something fun - simply because the progression system and how it interlocks with scaling, is just so damn bad.

Feeling like you are already overly/too powerful for any potential future content at all, is quite tiresome in the end.
