Something like account wide skyshards? Yes, please.
With the change to the CP system, and faster leveling, I do find my level 50 characters aren't ready for the game. Not enough Skyshards, but plenty of skills to level up.
I'm not advocating account wide Skyshards, but it would be nice if the game would automatically assign the overland Skyshards. Quest, delve, and dungeon shards should still be earned.
This drops the need for a grind for them, but still gives flexibility to focus on character development.
Win-win?
Wait a moment. Isn't there a fallacy here,? Skyshards are not the only way to get more skill points, as some quests that you may not have done before L50 will still award them.
Leave the shards alone. Especially as changes made for the post-L50's will affect those below that level.
It would seem feasible to me to not only gain xp towards your next CP point but also some progress towards a skill point.
My point.. less shard chasing, provide an incentive to quest past lvl50 and cp cap, another means to get to an end.

I would never want to take anything away from players that want to treat their Alts differently, but picking up the same skyshard for the 10th, 12th or 15th time is no longer enjoyable in anyway.
Maybe make an option for when you first clear the 15 main zones of skyshards on one character that you can toggle those zones to be account wide. Not like you need all 405 skyshards (or whatever the number is) on every toon.

leveling to 50 is pretty quick. If you've max CP then you left with chasing skyshards which is nothing more than a time sink and exercise for your mount.
If you have 1000's of quests available, have 800+ CP there no real point to doing them esp the ones that don't lead to a skill point themselves.

Would be ok with after hitting level 50 all your skyshards are unlocked based on highest account. Same as CP.
Quests/book/guilds can still work the same /shrug.

Alternative ways of earning skill points other than skyshards?
- 4-person dungeon quests? Check.
- PvP ranks? Check

If you already have a main character that is a crafter, the skill points you get via leveling plus a couple more in obtainable through your preferred activity are more than enough for a build.
Stop thinking that you need every skill point in the game for every character. You don't.

It wasn't enjoyable the first time around....
I mean literally skyshard/lorebook grinding wasn't fun at all... Playing the game regularly it would take ages to get all skyshards and lorebooks. I had maybe half of them collected by the time I hit vr14(max at the time) and I was taking my time with the game, exploring everything, searching everywhere.
After a while I decided I needed max mages guild and as many skill points as possible for passives since my main is also my crafter. It wasn't fun.
I can't even bring myself to do it on my alts because it was so painstakingly boring and tedious the first time through... They are just stuck with whatever skill points they happen along.

not aiming for every skill point, asking for - suggesting an idea to encourage doing things other than the standard approach.
I mean, what are you earning if at cp cap, essentially nothing useful until that cap is increased.
as above..
If you're ahead of the cap its pretty easy to stay ahead of it even just pvp'ing or doing dailies there's is no incentive to continue with the bulk of PVE content unless you're chasing sets.
