Banker and Merchant assistant cost too much - READ the OP before you comment

I'm not paying 5000 crowns for a merchant or banker. I'm just not.
Both together will cost about as much as the price of the base game on release.

Look, I'll buy them for about 1000 Crowns each if I can just put them in my home. I don't want them following me around anyway. And Pihaari the smugger: her cut is huge. Selling to her is almost utterly pointless.

Service NPC's should take no cut, and there should be a much cheaper version that you can only use in your home.

...is there a way to earn them like Pirhaari?

Did I even get her name right?

UPDATE: A good friend gifted me the banker. He did it so we I can put him in our Guildhall - which I did. I still think the price is disgusting.

No they are not. They are a luxury item. Thier is no need for them at all in the game. Such items should cost a premium. I would see them cost even more.

Don't buy them then. They're for convenience and not necessary in the slightest.

And the reason Pirhaari takes a cut is because she's a way to make some cash on stolen goods if you have a high bounty/heat and can't safely make it to an Outlaw's Refuge. Then you at least get something rather than having all your stolen items confiscated trying to sneak through a town.

I agree with some of your points but they're not going to change the cost now. Especially after they've sold to many players already. If you want you can get them at "50% off" during the next Crown sale.

    £50 for 2 convenience NPC's is a bargain??

The price has always been too high for me and not worth it.

    Solution?

    Don't buy.

I do agree that the price is too high, especially considering they're not fully functional assistants. If they were (access to guild banks/store, merchant repair) I might be inclined. And/or if they made them customizable so I don't have yet another clone like everyone else. Otherwise, I'm just not gonna buy and that's okay with me. I do fine without them.

A stablehand would be great though for houses!

If you think they are too expensive, don't buy them. That's what I do with Crown Store stuff (or any game shop stuff) that I find too pricey.

It's not like there aren't a myriad of merchants walking about the world, and you can always use the banker or merchant of people in your group.

Stablehand: hell yes! Why didn't I think of that? And getting to design your service NPCs would be great.

a much cheaper, non-following version for guildhalls would be great. Or at least let us purchase them with gold like the houses.

The price is a bit high but they can be purchased for about half their regular cost if you get Crowns on sale.

The real issue I have with them is they are not fully endowed. LOL. The Banker has no access to any Guild Banks or Guild Stores. It should, especially for 5000 Crowns. Same goes for the Merchant. The Merchant should sell the items other roving Merchants sell AND should repair your gear as other Merchants do.

Yea i wouldn't exactly be calling the 35 euro for 5500 crowns a bargain or anyway cheap in order to be able to summon a merchant, *** thats what the game cost when it came out, and they expect people to pay that for 1 item, the entire price of the game, or 2½ months of being subbed.

Do you go out drinking with friends? Or to the cinema? Maybe theme parks?

If so...a fool and their money...

IOW, people have different ways of having fun and if they want to spend their discretionary income on NPCs in a game, that's their choice. Makes them no more foolish than, say, someone going out and getting absolutely snockered. At least the NPC purchase won't give you a hangover. Buyer's remorse perhaps, but no hangover. :)

I don't drink, and I spend very little on the vice that I do have. Yes that one. Not sure if saying it will get me banned. And a night blowing £50+ getting plastered is pretty foolish IMO. Just coz it's the culture doesn't mean it's not stupid.

Theme Parks? Nah. I have games.

Cinnema? When I really wanna see something.

But all of these cost a lot of money to produce or maintain. And ESO gives the odd free quest that almost certainly cost more to make.

I'm very happy with my banker and merchant purchase at 5k crowns each. Different people value things differently. If you don't think they are worth 5k each, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion and you are absolutely right from your point of view. Nobody can make you think they are worth it if you don't think it.

I would never buy a soul gem from the crown store. But some people would. I'm allowed to think they are absolutely bonkers for throwing their money away, but that doesn't mean they will think it.
