Mechanical Acuity - Is Crit Chance a relic?

This set has become BiS for nearly every DPS class. Because of this, crit chance has more or less taken a backseat in favor of more weapon damage/bleed damage.
Especially with the Thief having been nerfed significantly a few patches ago.

There is something wrong with the Meta if one set is so substantially good for every class, be it stamina or Magicka.

I run a dagger/axe or Mechanical, but honestly have thought about crafting a second axe to just up my bleed uptime, since the dagger crit seems all but inconsequential.

Does this set need a change, or is it rather a variety of other sets need changes to make them viable alternatives?

    Shadow and thief could need a buff

    True. With 7 legendary divines, Thief only gives an additional 10% chance, which is fairly pathetic. Shadow a 13% increase, yet the 363 from Warrior/Apprentice leads to a higher critical damage increase anyway.

    What I’m worried about is seeing this set nerfed into oblivion instead of addressing the more significant problem behind certain Mundus or set bonuses.

    Iirc the set really only out performs by a few percentages based on what the individuals' stats are.

    In a PuG with no major force etc, it can lose out to other choices.

    I think because of this, it's pretty balanced

    Mechanical Acuity still does not benefit players with no skill at dps. Heard the same complaints when they buffed weapon damage on Hundings. It is NOT a replacement for skill. Also, Acuity does not scale well on Wardens or Templars of the Khajiit variety. Finding similar dps between Acuity and Hundings for those classes. So I'm saying Acuity doesn't need a nerf. An increase in content difficulty however, would be appreciated.

    True, though that pertains to nearly every set. Although, to fully use Acuity you have to time your heavy hitters more. Drop bow and dots on backbar, switch to MA bar, wait for Acuity proc, switch twice to quickly pull off Ballista and get back on melee bar. The damage differential can be significant, so I see what youre saying: DPS that don’t know timing (of their procs and DOTs) won’t find nearly as much utility. But even not completely optimized, the set can still put out amazing DPS, even for players with little to no skill.
