Question about Ice staff block mitigation vs one hand shield

So I understand that if you don't put points into the passive 'Tri Focus' you can use stamina while blocking and still retain the benefits of the ice staff mitigation from 'ancient knowledge'

However, has anyone tested the different in mitigation between a one hand shield vs ice staff when using stamina? Is it the same roughly?

The mitigation of blocking is actually the same over all weapons. Now the passives of ice staves, but also those from sword and shield grant you 20% additional mitigation while blocking.Sword and shield allows 36% lower block costs, while ice staves only provide 30%. Also sword and shield gives more mitigation for projectiles and ranged attacks. Thats pretty much it. Only class passives like those from temars and dks further add block mitigation. Where sword and shield is better than ice staff is the movement speed bonus while blocking.

This is not true in this patch.
    Everything is viable

Right, this is from earlier patch, i am sry. Also skillfactory and otger pages didnt actualisate their data...
So both provide 36% block cost reduction.

Everything is same but for frost staff you have to slot destro ability on bar to make blocking works. For snb - no need of it.
And frost staff loose 1pc bonus in compare to snb <-will be changed next update.
