Please improve character creation

To the OP...I have read BDO has the best character creation and character appearance, and yet garbage gameplay. The population is in the tank.

I will stick with ESO while you play BDO.

Agree. But if they increase customization they will lose money^^ Better sell new hairs etc.. They don't care about your entertainment, they want only your money. Am i angry? Yes i am.

How many people had a timeout while trying to guess a name for their character and had to redo everything from scratch? Plus, having a name generator would avoid so many dumb names in game...

This is why you decide on a name before you create a character. If it's taken, you can use special characters.

I get timeout and lose all my "creations" even if I know the name beforehand. Just tweaking the various knobs ends up in frequent logoff

I agree with much of this. I would very much like to be able to create a handsome male elf and not have my efforts come out looking like the Green Goblin. While we're at it can we please have an option to lessen the Star Trek bumpy-forehead-alien effect on Dunmer men? And why must ALL human males be hairy all over? What if I want a nice smooth-chested guy to put in my gauzy dancing outfit? We need a non-hairy skin option for men.

I'm not even gonna get into the concept of creating a handsome male orc, I'm guessing that's not supposed to be possible, but maaaan, I tried. I failed so spectacularly I just went the other direction and deliberately made him look like the Green Goblin, and then just kept a helmet on him at all times. Poor things look like green bulldogs. I don't think tusks necessarily require an accompanying underbite.

I would kill for the better lighting during creation as well.

There's a lot I could say (most of it unoriginal) about what would improve character creation, but there's been very few MMOs imo that have had truly good character creations. There's 2 I can think of - Horizons (which later became Istaria) and Champions Online. I could literally spend hours in the creator and have fun without ever setting foot in the game. I don't say that because I expect ZOS to follow suit, I'm just reminiscing.

But yes, more lighting options during creation, pretty please?

I was pretty happy with the tools at my disposal in ESO to create a good, sexy male orc. But then my tastes are different than other folks.

I also bought BDO to check out its character creator, and despite its robustness I was underwhelmed when I tried to apply the same paintbrush to their Giant race. There were a lot of aspects that seemed arbitrarily clamped in their system that prevented me from creating something proportionate.

Both systems have their limitations, fans, and detractors. And both are coded to entirely different protocols, I believe (or at least were built around different versions of DirectX or similar). It's not really fair to compare one to the other, but seeking improvements is a good thing. My main beef in ESO's creator is the awful lighting, both for the creator and when using an appearance token. I'm hoping that gets tweaked in a future quality-of-life pass.

Redesign the UI.

I like the way you can see your Character and pet/mount - but they need to be either changeed to an icon or place behind and in front of the charcter. That would leave more room for a nice big window with multiple tabs -

Character Stats
Inventory [& bank?] (with all items searchable)
Bank (with all items searchable)
Guilds
Alliance War & BG's
etc

You cant compare BDO to ESO.

BDO has nothing except Characters. No Story. No Dungeons. Just a Solo Player Gambler Hell that makes you work all day and spend awesome amounts of money. Characters really look better, but almost every Character looks the same. And while you have more face options, BDO lacks in Body Options compared to ESO. Pls dont compare BDO and ESO. If you play BDO you can also play one of these japanese Character Creation Games where your Character is dancing for you lol... not much difference except pvp, if you can compete with others after endless work & grind ofc...
No i am happy that ESO is not like BDO and has not all its strenghts in Character Creation.

But a few more options for hair colors or voices (or vampire skins) would be nice indeed.
