Don't think I've ever had enough to be considered a "hoard".

The one time I've had more than 100-200k, was when I specifically saved up 1.3mil (over 2-3 months) to buy Hundings.... at which time I went back down to "poor".

I'd like to do either of them, but I don't make enough gold to spend, or to hoard.

I'm one of those people who's more focused on having an immediate, heavy source of income on demand at any given time. So long as that well doesn't dry up, I'm as wealthy as I choose to be.

I have to make a concentrated effort to amass any amount of gold, though. There's no sitting in the background making things or people work for me, unless you count IC farmers doing the work for me. I earn their stones.

Best advice I can give is to never focus completely on one avenue of growth or income. It doesn't make it easier to earn more gold, but it sure does make it harder to earn less. Invest 100% into the tools you need to do your work, and don't spare the expenses if it pays dividends. Never work for your tools. They work for you. Don't baby them, be afraid to use them, or forget to use them. The converse to that is not to abuse them either, but that's hard to do in a game like ESO. That's why learning the right technique is just as important as having the best gear.

Hoard it for months, and then from time to time I go on a rampage and spend a lot of it on things like polymorph boxes or golding out new equipment for several characters when I change their builds.

Well, I tend to hoard and hoard and hoard and then in a moment of weakness and being really tired, spend most of it at once. Especially when I should be waiting a week to see if I can save some of that money. I was up to over 800k, and then spent 700k late last night on motif pages I was missing. Like really? Should have just went to bed lol

I stockpile all my gold but will only use some of it when I need to quickly get something.

I have 0 gold.
But I have 25 houses, all motifs and 130 furniture recipies.
Well... that means something

That being said, I hit 14 million a couple months back and before the Motif drop rate nerf, I decided to finish up the last few rare styles. So, I spent almost 2 Million on motif pages before they doubled in price which brought me into the low 12 million range. I have just now gotten back to almost 15M. However, if needed, I will buy the last few Worm pages if I don't get to farm them.
