Stam DPS Back Bar Question

JackSmirkingRevenge
So every single build has the same exact 4 skills on the bow bar, Endless Hail, Injection, Trap, Caltrops. If you wanted to add an additional class skill, which one of the 4 abilities is the most expendable, as in you would lose the least amount of damage replacing?

I run a Stamblade exclusively, and I don't have the math in front of me (@Gilliamtherogue .....?), but from experience my guess would be Trap. Having said that, there does seem to be a large number of nasties in the game thart are immune to poison...makes me wonder about how hard Injection actually hits at times.

Most of my builds put trap in the front bar. What class are you and what skill do you want to replace one of those with?

Its more if a general question. I have avoided playing stam classes because everything I read has 4 slots eaten up by those abilities. Since I would like to so end game trials etc, I was just wondering if there was one if them I could drop for more build diversity creativity that would be the least disastrous to my dps

If you want to do normal trials, do whatever you want. If you want to do vet trials, you suck it up and do what is best, regardless of personal feelings. End game is not about diversity, it about doing what is best and if you want to be part of that crowd, you have to have that mindset or you will be shunned.

Going off my tooltips (not the most reliable):
    • Poison Injection = Single Target = 5k + 1k DPS (up to 260% stronger under 50% health)
    • Trap = Single Target = 3k + 1-1.5k DPS (Immobilisation + also gives Minor Force for 10% more Crit Damage)
    • Hail = AoE = 2.5k DPS (Stronger with Maelstrom Bow)
    • Caltrops = AoE = 1.7k DPS + 2k (Reduces movement speed 30-70%

Out of these I'd say trap was the weakest being Single Target, lowest DPS (under 50%), arm time etc... IF you can get immobilisation + Minor Force elsewhere.

However if you're going for endgame/leaderboards these are BiS for a reason ;)

I wish we could remove Caltrops and add a suitable class skill to replace it. When I play my Stam classes, they all feel the same but when I play Mag classes, they feel more unique.

That was kind of my whole point, I want my stam characters to feel different.. they just don't to me. My opinion of course.

I actually think that in the real world (not a dummy parse) your most expendable of the 4 is poison injection. Hail is frankly broken OP, Caltrops is a lot of splash damage, and remember, we dont slot trap for the DOT, we slot it for the minor force.

The bigger question is why would you want to drop any of them? If I want to drop a classic stamina skill, its rending slashes. Only scenario where I do that is on my stam sorc when i want to be cheap and run surge.

Because as several of us have stated, we would like some uniqueness to our stamina classes without sacrificing so much dps that it becomes not viable. But more importantly, the original post was a single question...which of the 4 skills are most droppable....it wasn't a debate about why they should or should not be dropped.

I drop rending slashes for vigor and move trap front bar on my stamblade, dps loss all things considered isnt much

I'd only back bar trap on stam blade and stam sorc. Stam DK and stamplar I'd put it on the front bar. If I were to drop a skill it would be rending slashes (or deadly cloak if I wasn't worried about survivability) and put trap on front bar.

I think rearming trap may be a tad stronger than poison injection because of the minor force buff, which helps with AOE too.

If a lot of the DPS in groups decide to use blood thirsty traits in Summerset, there would be less time spent in the execute phase of a fight. To me that means perhaps there could be a slightly reduced percentage of DPS contribution from the usual execute skills like poison injection. It's not going to knock it out of the meta, but it might become less painful to part ways with it.

Depends. I usually drop trap just because it is the ability that most easily becomes useless in mobile fights.
