the game is starting to fail because of Zos constant bad decisions but they have a new person at the helm that seems to believe in communication so i think there will be a turnaround

they just need to clean house and restaff. programmers, community staff etc.

    that's what i would do.
I am very, very, VERY glad you're not in charge of ZOS then.

That's probably the most destructive thing you could do to a persistent game.

    yet i am right
Cleaning house of everyone who knows how a game works and has a set design path and vision? That's going to be disastrous.

Programmers would have to learn anything which ESO has specially.
Community staff would mean getting to know new staff and building relationships from the ground up again (not to mention we love our community team)

Some of the staff also come from Bethesda and worked on former TES games meaning they have an understanding of the lore.
You have story writers who are former TSR members and have been working on games and stories for years.

cleaning house doesn't mean to get rid of every person but a large selection or management. Gina needs to go for example, no doubt in my mind. She constantly ignores things. I have been trying for 3 months for them to address an obvious bug that would take them maybe 10 minutes to fix but she just can't be bothered to respond nor any of her staff. The lead programmer needs to go also, for the same reason. Simple bugs are not being fixed. Quality control is absent in this game. They don't test. We all know this. They put out something on pts, people mention the obvious bugs and those bugs go in live.

new blood is also a good thing for a 4 year old game.

you have to keep in mind, this game failed at launch and many of those people that made the decisions that caused it to fail are still on board so i hope people don't think these people are always right.
I am fine with the current team, the ones I've had the pleasure to meet or talk with have been great people. They also continue to deliver a game I pay for an enjoy.
It could be better, but I don't think getting rid of all the people who have a passion for the game and make the community what it is would make me enjoy it more.

Also did you ever think Gina doesn't reply to you because you keep saying she should be fired? Your attitude is pretty much the kind that everyone wants to ignore.

Ive yet to see him say that anywhere else. So.....

Thing is, if the current staff had a passion for the game, things would get done. As it stands a lot doesnt get done. Bugs are rampant, the servers and data centers are in dire need of an upgrade, QA is abysmal, and balancing is a nightmare.

I love this game, and I do enjoy the content a lot , however, you can enjoy the content and not be blind to the things that have persistantly plagued this game since the new team arrived.
I think the team has the passion, it's very clear they do when we see them.

There are arguments to be made regarding their release cycles and deadlines, sure I would love more focus on updates which really dig in and clear up issues plaguing the game for years however I don't think changing the staff over is going to magically change the game.

I am not trying to make excuses for ZOS or say everything is peachy with the game, but I don't agree that clearing house of the teams (including community team) is going to turn ESO around.

I have seen change of leadership work before. When EVE Online had issues and they promoted CCP Unifex to reorganise and lead their teams. He was seen as a saviour as he changed it from pumping out new features to working on solving and updating issues (he also works at ZOS now ironically).
However ZOS has promised and sold the game on "updates every quarter" which they've been able to mostly keep to, however that's means new development constantly. We do see updates and bug fixes with every single patch, some do take a while however.

Gina has been pretty good talking about the bug tracking and fixing in the past some on the forums, some on public chat channels she idles. The communication the last few months has been amazing compared to the first three years of the game, but people still want to sling abuse and passive aggressive posts constantly.

    Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
    Don't you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin', I can hear them say
    Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
    Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say
    Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
    Don't you cry no more

The game is doing so incredible well, we will likely never see an es 6.

Of course you can blame es legends and all those new repackaged skyrims for it too.

I recently got back into ESO as I've been searching for a decent MMORPG game to stay on. Sadly I couldn't find one and I really should have stayed on ESO as for missing out on events, news and content.

So to make sure I keep on playing I decided to buy a subscription but curious to know when ESO will end as I don't wanna be playing for a year or less knowing that ESO gonna close.

it wont close it just wont hold your interest long. lots of content , but its lots of the same lvling content. with weak story recycled skins. if your looking for a game that emerges the further you get in this is not it. it stopped somewhere around 2016 in evolution and is now moving backwards.

I just cant agree with the passion part. There are problems that have existed since they changed how the game works. Cyro is a complete mess, the combat team is ..... i dunno what they are doing, there needs to be a FAR larger QA team and buf fix team , right now I am betting its bare bones, or non existant. They have done a good job with content, but even there they backtracked from teir original goal of giving ALL DLC for free to subscribers. If they are losing subs now, its really no surprise.

And now the servers are offline, this has happened 3 times in less than a week now, the servers are awful and the datacenters need a SEVERE upgrade to handle the load of players during peak, and event peaks. And instead of doing anything, they take the servers down, wait till ppl log off, and restart them and hope for the best. I mean they are making bank, they could at least invest a TINY bit into performance upgrades.

ESO has so much potential and content to get through I can't it stopping even in 10 years time as there is more than 1 continent on Nirn.

Just reminded me that when looking at the map it's so big. So, it was quite silly of me asking when some parts of the map are empty. I haven't explored each place yet as I'm planning to complete each area quests so that I can move onto the next. I believe I've done nearly all of glenumbra quests that I could find from an addon I use, and those that I have interest in.

IMO eso will be dead on console when new next gen console comes out we have a long time. On PC it will live much longer but with a small population.

you do realize that ESO has a huge population on PC right? Its the console that is the smaller market...I have the game on both...but havent played the console version since about a month after I got it, the PC version is just that much better

    lol what?

what do you mean lol what. Why do you think they have done some of the things they have done like morrowind free with purchase of summerset.

the game was declining in subs, without a doubt and they are trying to remedy that. You can put your head in the sand but it is what it is. there is a new person on board as stated and they believe in communication and if you don't think communication has been an issue then i dont know what to say.

the mods here, especially Gina need to be booted out. They are useless, unless they are being told to only answer certain things. They pick and choose what they will respond to and tend to jump in only to delete a post or comment on a fluff piece. Have you not noticed almost every long term problem/bug in this game does not get addressed by them?

which brings us to the programmers who cant seem to fix these issues.

so not sure what lol what you are referring too, because of all the mmos and games I have played that required communication between developers and base this one is by far at the bottom. Second place isnt even close.

But i have hopes this new guy will fix this.

Thats why each new version of WoW comes with expansions before for free right?

Just because you disagree with the staff doesnt make you right, you do realize that? Why do you think that your decisions would make people any happier? Do you think they have the manpower to man the forums all day long and answer every question? Especially when whatever answer they give will be quoted and held against them for years to come. You evidently know nothing about about running a business if you think replacing current trained staff with new, untrained staff unfamiliar with whatever systems you are using is anything other than a huge mistake to be avoided if at all possible.

can you back that up? I don't think there are any stats on what the current active player base. They don't release that info and going by all their recent decisions i think its not all that good.

I regularly go into zones to see no one else there. how is that doing great? seems like the only part that is consistently pack is pvp.

Eso will live just like Final Fantasy XIV on PlayStation. It on PlayStation 3 and went to PlayStation 4.

i messaged Gina through the mail system about the apex flame mount being bugged - this never got tested and never got fixed.

She replied back saying it was fixed in the dragonbones patch.

It never was. All they did was take the sounds of on of the horses and ported it in. it was lazy.

I messaged her back saying it wasn't fixed all they did was put in the horse sound and if it would be corrected because it doesnt fit.

    silence

    messaged a few weeks later

    silence

a few weeks later waiting for a response

    still nothing.

they sold a buggy product, took way too long to do a simple fix, and screwed up the fix and went silent. Now think about how many times they have done this.

And this is a trend. They may respond to something at first but when it goes not fixed or fixed incorrectly they will ignore the question. that is why she should be fired.

Normal and expected response on long term problems is to at least answer that either they are looking into it or they are not looking into it, at least something. But they don't, she doesn't. They regularly ignore issues.

that is why they need to go. How can you say otherwise? if they can't to the basic part of their job to be a go between between players and developers then they need to find another job. Its that simple.

Number of games are still running, some from as far back as 2003-2004. Every time a new game came out, forums would explode that the game was going to die and that the plug would be pulled on the servers. I remember one game that did shut down from 2006. The setting was London in the near future, demons from hell took over the earth. Similar to Diablo how maps were done, loot system, equipment upgrades, etc. but with a first person view and guns. Station hubs would be populated with other players and you could interact/trade with them, but when you went to a map, it was instanced to only yourself, unless you grouped with people. Each time you loaded a map area, it would be different. Interesting game, but the makers of the game went under.

If you look back on the forums you'll see that the sky has been falling since 2013 and the game has been pronounced dead at least 20 times over.

So yeah, save your money, it ain't worth it, the game already died 5 years ago ...

Sadly I agree... I'm back to ESO trying to see if i can fall back in love with it after binging warframe for a while. Boy, what an amazing team they have (warframe), specially in community management. Yet I never felt as disappointed, frustrated and enraged with a game and its developers/vision/community management as I have with eso. Not sure if its a communication problem or a vision problem from upper management though... So many bad designs and oversights mixed with indifference from the community managers and the aforementioned selective engagement had made me drop this game. With that said, I still see lots of potential for it and I do hope it succeeds for years to come (and I think it will). I would nevertheless like to see some improvements and, to me at least, the only way that would happen is if some of the people get replaced or if the community stops playing due to frustration and they are forced to revisit their whole strategy to keep in business (which would hurt the game).
